Security in Mali deteriorates as UN peacekeepers pulls out

United Nations peacekeepers are speeding up their withdrawal from northern Mali as the security situation deteriorates. A week ago, six UN troops and dozens of fighters from an armed group were killed in confrontations near a UN base. Niger coup leader proposes three-year transition to civilian rule

Niger’s coup leader has proposed a three-year transition to civilian rule after meeting a delegation of West African leaders and warned that any attack on the country would “not be a walk in the park” for those involved.
