Deaths in flooded subway as torrential rain hits central China

At least 12 people have been killed in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou, as severe flooding sweeps China’s central province of Henan.
Tens of thousands are also forced to evacuate their homes after three days of heavy rainfall, which was close to the annual average rainfall.
The army has warned one of the region’s stricken dams may collapse at any time, risking the lives of about seven million people.
Increased urbanisation and climate change have worsened the effect of floods in recent years.
It is the highest rainfall the region has seen in nearly 60 years, with no sign of letting up any time soon.
