One of Brazil’s most popular singers has been killed in a plane crash.
Marilia Mendonca, who was 26 years old, died alongside her manager and an aide.

@jacuzzi 90 uniden is right. You’re most likely die driving to an airport than dying on a plane. Same goes for Rollercoasters, you’re most likely die driving to an amusement park than dying at one as well as a train or a boat.
It depends on the weather if it looks cloudy n windy ….yeah it’s best not to fly at all, idc if the pilots are pros…you just can’t beat mother nature at all she wins Everytime

Nobody is asking humanity to stop living. It’s news because she was a young successful musician, with a legion of fans, who died in plane crash. She was also a human being, a mother of a 1year old, daughter…if you’re incapable of feeling the basic human emotion called empathy you can just move on, nobody is asking YOU anything.

@Isabella Moretti the worshipping and singling out of celebrity happenings is asking ‘regular’ humans to stop and pay attention. My empathy is the same for everyone, no less or more for somebody with a lot of fans. So, this story doesn’t interest me anymore than the nameless millions who died because of Kung-Flu.
@Travel Crawl I wasn’t particularly a fan of her music – not really into country/sertanejo – but I was shock and truly sad when I heard the news. She was very young, recently became a mom, very talented and caused a huge impact on many people. It’s not about worshipping a celebrity, it’s about understanding the pain that a tragedy like this brings. Nobody said her life or any other celebrity life is more valuable, but at this time it was her life that we lost, and she happened to be a celebrity. No one stoped feeling the losses of anonymous people because of her death; it’s not a competition and we can mourn more than one person. Your comment didn’t show that you care about other lives, your comment showed that you think Marília’s life was less valuable. It’s pretty contradictory to say that your empathy is the same for everyone but make sarcastic remarks about someone’s death just because they’re famous. Lastly, jokes are supposed to make people laugh, if people are not laughing it’s not a joke, just a rancid “speech” from someone that doesn’t know the thin line between sarcasm and offense. It works for your distasteful “Kung-flu” comment as well. No one finds it amusing.

@Gomes21 He was very respectful, nothing to complain or be rude about. I wasn’t a fan either – not into sertanejo/country – but that doesn’t mean we don’t feel her loss. As he said, we can perfectly acknowledge her undisputed talent but not listen to her music, simply because we prefer other styles. I honestly don’t get why you felt the need to attack him.

É muito claro que ele quis dizer que apesar de não ser fã, não ter nenhuma ligação pessoal com o trabalho, ele está comovido com a tragédia. Ele inclusive ressaltou o talento dela em outro comentário, mas isso não significa que ele tenha a obrigação de ouvir suas músicas ou esconder suas opiniões. Da mesma forma que ele precisa pensar mais no próximo – como você disse -, o próximo também precisa pensar mais nele e respeitar quem tem gostos e preferências diferentes. Ele foi extremamente gentil e a única negatividade partiu das pessoas que resolveram critica-lo por prestar condolências APESAR de não ter interesse na obra dela. Eu penso exatamente do mesmo jeito. Não sou/fui fã, sertanejo não é minha praia, mas reconheço o talento indiscutível que ela tinha, o impacto que ela causou em muita gente, e recebi a notícia com profunda tristeza e até incredulidade. Infelizmente, Marília partiu cedo, mas não é por isso que vou mudar meus gostos pessoais para agradar seus fãs nesse momento. Espero que esses e principalmente as famílias das vítimas encontrem força e resiliência pra conviver com a falta que esses (antes de profissionais) seres humanos irão fazer.

Unfortunately Brazil seems to have a history with plane crashes. We lost the most popular band in 90’s the same way, a popular singer (that was coincidentally friends with Marília) two years ago, the Chapecoense football team in 2016 and now Marília. Truly heartbreaking.

Brazil is the country with the most accident, very similar to Portugal. They often have spectacular bus crash, airplane disasters.
I think that they don’t offer sufficient trainings to their truck drivers, bus drivers or pilots.
