I’m Thai and can bluntly say that in Thailand you cannot be too honest, you cannot outshine those in a higher position or status than you. That would make your superiors look bad, warrant envy from coworkers and make you an outcast. Even more so if you are righteous. On top of that you’d be meddling into a certain someone’s corruption rink, whether it be in some obscure shop or office to untouchables. There’s always something brewing in the cauldron. Corruption with backhanded compliments and smiles are rife and is a way of life here. It is engrained into every industry and institution in Thailand. It may seem pessimistic when I say it will never be disposed of, but at some point we have to be realistic. Often times it will morph and distort into what it needs to be, to make a buck, payback favors or for the interest of self preservation. The laws are just, but not sacred. The chosen guardians of those laws are easily swayed. I love my country. Thailand is beautiful, it has everything you could possibly want to build a content and fulfilling life. It lacks a few good men to sacrifice themselves to a greater cause. The good are suppressed, the bad are empowered. This is the past, present and future state of my home. I commend Khun Paween Pongsirin on his steadfast character and stoicism. As bleak as it may be we can only hope the younger generation will see through the shrouds of corruption and build a more conscientious world for their children.
It’s sad to see older generations working on this country. It’s not only disappointing but sorrow for general public of how next generation in this country could be. The law is not enforced in the way it should be therefore we have no law in this country.
Thanks to khun Paween for his courage and his sacrifice to reveal this occurrence. Without him, public will have no way to understand how bad this country really is. It’s sad but it’s true. 🥲

I have mix feelings after watching this documentary. Sad to see him miss his family, his previous job and unfinished business in Thailand. Angry to see people who involve with human trafficking still live their lives like nothing happen. But happy to see him not living in that corrupt country anymore.
