Peru political crisis: Congress removes Castillo, swears in new president

Peru has now sworn in a new president after former leader Pedro Castillo was impeached by Congress and detained.
Castillo was arrested just hours after saying he would dissolve Congress by presidential decree – a move the country’s constitutional court said was a ‘coup d’etat.’
Congress moved ahead with a vote on whether he should be impeached.
Castillo’s deputy, Dina Boluarte, has now become the country’s first female leader.
Peru has faced a string of political crises since Castillo took office 18 months ago.

Al Jazeera’s Mariana Sanchez reports from Lima, Peru.
