They did. The US supports the SDF militarily. Every US soldier you see in Syria is deployed to help the SDF, mainly to finish off ISIS. What the US is doing in Syria is actually helpful, as they are assisting local groups and fighting terrorists rather than being an occupier.
Bashar al-Assad the president of Syria for more than 20 years, negotiated a deal with Russia to allow Russian build an oil pipeline through Syria. The USA as it does went straight into regime change mode the western media ran with the chemical weapons story used by the USA so many times before. They armed ISIS with armoured vehicles and modern weapons and they started towards overthrowing the Assad presidency. The Russians blew this ISIS military convoy to bits and continue to this day to support Assad maintain the freedom of Syria.
The USA have no role in Syria. But they do have a goal overthrow a president who has been in office for 20 years
USA are being met by Russian forces more and more. The time is right to take on the WOKE warlords of the west

The SDF are not aligned with or opposed to the Asad government or with opposition forces. The SDF are supported by the US because of their democratic ideology. As the US has no control over the SDF, they are co-operative allies, not the US expanding into Syria or occupying it. If you make these claims, you are either stubborn in the face of facts or are arguing in bad faith.

US and coalition forces required a base from which to segregate ISIS members and keep an eye on regional activity. After those years, the U.S. even provided Syria with MBTs, Abrams tanks, and other weapons to aid in their war against militia forces that were entangling with Syria. Because they negotiated contracts and agreements with the base established in Syria for a number of different reasons, they now want to endanger & threaten Americans for no valid reason.
