At an emergency summit in neighbouring Nigeria, leaders of the West African regional bloc ECOWAS have given Niger’s coup leaders one week to reinstate the president. Bangladesh police have fired rubber bullets and tear gas at stone-throwing opposition party supporters blocking major roads in the capital Dhaka to demand the prime minister’s resignation.
