Aid is being sent from Thailand to people displaced by fighting in Myanmar after violence eased near the border in the past two days. But ethnic Karen fighters in Myanmar say they will only negotiate a ceasefire if Myanmar’s military leaves areas where fierce fighting has been taking place. The Karen National Union (KNU) said the area under its control in Karen state was hit last week by air raids and artillery rounds.
