South China Sea tensions: Confrontation between China and Philippines

In the South China Sea, Chinese coastguard ships have attempted to deny Philippine vessels access to Second Thomas Shoal island for the third time in five weeks. Guinea: Three die in protests marking second anniversary of coup

Leaders of the BRICS alliance of five nations have invited another six countries to join. They are: Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Security in Mali deteriorates as UN peacekeepers pulls out

Niger’s coup leader has proposed a three-year transition to civilian rule after meeting a delegation of West African leaders and warned that any attack on the country would “not be a walk in the park” for those involved.
