There have been several Israeli air raids, and several Hezbollah attacks today. Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for at least eight attacks on Israeli targets. The Israeli army is announcing nine of its soldiers have been wounded, including one that was severely injured. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been heckled and booed by the families of captives held by Hamas in Gaza during an address to parliament. “Now! Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi says Israel “will certainly pay” for the killing in Syria of a senior general with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. “Without a doubt, this action is another sign of frustration, helplessness and incapacity of the usurping Zionist regime [Israel] in the region,” Raisi said in a statement. This year, Bethlehem is sombre and quiet. There is no Christmas tree and there are no holiday lights or tourists to see them. Instead, the city of Jesus’s birth – which is in the middle of a war zone – is marking Christmas with a powerful and poignant message: solidarity with Palestine. The Holy Family Cave is a sculpture that depicts a harrowing tableau: a bombed-out version of the traditional nativity cave, which many Christians traditionally believe is where Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
