‘Taxi war’ takes deadly toll in South Africa

In South Africa, the army has been deployed to Cape Town, as what’s being described as a “taxi war” continues to escalate. Dozens of people have been killed over the past few months, with rival taxi associations battling it out for ownership of a hotly contested route. Authorities have now closed the route, in a bid to restore calm. But thousands of commuters are bearing the brunt of the closure.
