The US, Jordan, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates have air-dropped more aid into northern Gaza. The UAE’s military says it delivered 53 tons of food and medical aid. Satellite images reveal how Egypt tightened borders with Gaza

Satellite images taken between November 22 last year and January 15 this year and verified by Al Jazeera, show that the Egyptian authorities have been tightening the border security by the Gaza Strip by establishing several checkpoints. On November 23, the Egyptian authorities began to complete the construction of an old earthen berm parallel to the border, approximately 200 metres (219 yards) away from the separating border fence. Palestinian refugees paying to flee: Reports of payments for border crossings

People trying to get out of Gaza via the Rafah border crossing with Egypt are being forced to pay thousands of dollars to a network of so-called brokers for exit permits. That’s according to reports published by Le Monde in France. Some Palestinians describe the practice as state-sponsored corruption and are pointing to Israel and Egypt, which control the crossing. Egypt uncovers 250 coffins with mummies, statues found in Saqqara

Archaeologists in Egypt have unveiled another massive haul of priceless artefacts. They were found in the Saqqara Necropolis – a site near Cairo, where many ancient treasures have been discovered. The artifacts include statues of the gods Anubis, Amun, Min, Osiris, Isis, Nefertum, Bastet, and Hathor along with a headless statue of the architect Imhotep, who built the Saqqara pyramid. Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said that the 250 coffins, 150 bronze statues, and other objects dated to the Late Period, about 500 BC.
