More than 30 people killed in mass shooting in Thailand: Police

More than 30 people have been killed in a mass shooting at a children’s day-care centre in a northeastern province of Thailand, a police spokesperson said. Victims included both children and adults, police said in a statement on Thursday, adding that the gunman was an ex-police officer and a manhunt was underway. The prime minister has alerted all agencies to take action and apprehend the culprit, a government spokesperson said. Mass shootings are rare in Thailand but in 2020, a soldier angry over a property deal killed at least 29 people and wounded 57 in a rampage that spanned four locations. Worshippers gunned down during church service in Nigeria

Gunmen opened fire on worshippers at a Catholic church in southwestern Nigeria and also detonated explosives. Dozens are feared dead including children. Lawmaker Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole said the attackers targeted the St Francis Catholic Church in Ondo state just as people gathered on Sunday. Among the dead were many children, said Oluwole, who visited the scene and also the hospital in Owo – a town in the state where many of the wounded are being treated.
