The International Court of Justice is due to present an advisory opinion on whether Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories violates international law. In February, the Court heard from 52 states and international organizations about the issue, which was referred to the Court by the UN’s General Assembly. Canada was also initially scheduled to present its arguments but decided to pull out at the last minute. For five days, the UN’s highest court will be considering the legal implications of Israel’s policies and actions, and what they mean for all other UN member states.
