Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas commemorated the Nakba at the UN on Monday and called for Israel to be suspended from the international body. Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh has been laid to rest after mourners were denied a peaceful final farewell. Israeli police attacked the funeral procession, nearly forcing pallbearers to drop Abu Akleh’s coffin. Israeli raids in the north of the occupied West Bank have intensified in recent weeks, after two gunmen from Jenin killed eight Israelis in separate attacks.
