Claudia Sheinbaum is projected to win the poll by a landslide. She’s a former climate scientist and mayor of Mexico City. She’s set to succeed her political mentor, the outgoing President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. Supporters of the president-elect gathered in their numbers in the capital to celebrate Sheinbaum’s landslide victory. The official quick count from the INE has projected Claudia Sheinbaum as the winner of Sunday’s presidential election with between 58.3 and 60.7 percent of the vote.
