Iran has announced it launched a rocket with a satellite carrier bearing three devices into space, as talks to revive the nuclear deal continue in Vienna. It’s unclear if any of the objects entered orbit around the Earth.
The parties to the Iran nuclear talks are putting out conflicting messages about whether progress is being made. The eighth round of negotiations kicked off again on Monday but statements made a day later agreed on only one thing – movement is needed soon. But those efforts have been complicated by a five-day military exercise by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, aimed at Israel. Russia and Iran’s foreign ministers have met in Tehran to sign a cooperation agreement, days after an attack on Iran’s main nuclear facility. Both ministers condemned the attack on the Natanz nuclear plant and encouraged the US to return to the 2015 nuclear deal and lift sanctions.
