Instead, the city of Jesus’s birth – which is in the middle of a war zone – is marking Christmas with a powerful and poignant message: solidarity with Palestine. Israeli authorities are stepping up demolitions in occupied East Jerusalem after the cabinet announced punitive measures against Palestinians early this week. Palestinians in Jabel Mukaber closed streets and poured oil on the roads to stop Israeli forces from razing their homes. At least fifteen Palestinians were injured during confrontations.
