At a massive pro-Palestinian rally in Istanbul, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Israel was an occupier in its war in Gaza, and repeated his stance about Hamas not being a terrorist organisation. “I reiterate that Hamas is not a terrorist organisation. Israel was very offended by this … Israel is an occupier, Erdogan speaks clearly because Turkey does not owe you anything,” he told hundreds of thousands of supporters on Saturday. People gathered at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport for a rally organised by Turkey’s governing AK Party to protest against Israel’s continued bombardment of the Gaza Strip and call for a ceasefire. Al Jazeera’s Osama Javaid reports from Istanbul, Turkey. […]
Rallies in support of Palestinians and an immediate ceasefire have taken place in New York City and Washington, DC. In New York, hundreds, possibly thousands, of demonstrators gathered at Grand Central Station, with pro-Palestinian rallies growing in size as the conflict in Gaza continues. In Washington, DC, protesters in front of the White House chanted slogans denouncing the war, calling for an end to the conflict, and an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. These protests reflect the escalating global concern for the ongoing violence in the region. Al Jazeera’s Patty Culhane reports from Washington, DC on the rallies that took place across the US. Israel has intensified its bombardment in the north of the Gaza Strip, specifically near Jabalia refugee camp where a complete neighbourhood has been attacked and dozens of residential buildings were completely wiped out. Israel keeps pounding different areas inside the Gaza Strip, levelling to the ground hundreds of residential buildings without any kind of prior warning in the north and central areas of Gaza. With every hour more than 50 Palestinians get killed by the Israeli ongoing strikes. The majority of the death toll, as the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has announced, is young children and women. UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian Refugees, says it has lost […]

Palestinians in Gaza are cut off from communication and aid during Israeli strikes and fires, with a worldwide blackout on the crisis. The unrelenting strikes and fires have left Palestinians in utter darkness, with phone and internet lines down. The situation is dire, as they cannot communicate with each other or emergency services. The strikes are adding to the crisis the Palestinians are already facing, including a lack of food, water, and electricity. As the Israeli army expands ground operations, some fear worse is yet to come. The world is called upon to intervene and stop this massacre. Despite the blackout, eyewitnesses capture the sound of clashes between the Israeli […]

Ongoing conflict in northern Omdurman, Sudan has killed and injured civilians. Ceasefire talks resumed but past truces failed. Asma Hamid’s home in Khartoum was hit by an artillery shell fired by the paramilitary rapid support forces into northern Omdurman, where the Sudanese army is located. This previously safe area has been hit by hundreds of artillery strikes in the past month, killing or injuring dozens of civilians. The shelling has prompted people to leave to safer areas outside the capital, but the fighting and insecurity has been spreading. While ceasefire talks have resumed, previous truces have collapsed. The Sudanese army and the paramilitary group say they want to end the […]
We don’t know about anything that is happening in other districts in the territory. Maybe there are new bombardments taking place in these areas. We don’t know how many victims. We can only hear bombardments everywhere, but we don’t know any anything about the casualties, about the situation on the ground. We don’t know anything also about the medical conditions of doctors, medical workers, even at the Al-Shifa Hospital [the largest in Gaza]. The situation is catastrophic right now. We can no longer communicate with the international community to send our voice to the world to know what is happening on the ground. I hope that this message might reach […]
Qatar has called for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all prisoners in the Gaza war. “The Israeli attacks against innocent civilians have become catastrophic and could spiral in a manner that threatens the region and the world. We express deep regret of the UN Security Council’s failure to take responsibility under its charter,” said Sheikha Alya Ahmed Saif Al Thani, Qatar’s ambassador to the UN. “We renew our calls for de-escalation, a full ceasefire, and the release of all prisoners – particularly civilians. We reaffirm our condemnation of all forms of targeting civilians, particularly women and children.” Subscribe to our channel: http://bit.ly/AJSubscribe Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AJEnglish Find […]
