In this video, Peter Martin explains what a dividend payment is, and looks at an example of recently declared dividends for a FTSE 100 company. He also talks about how dividend income can sometimes have favourable tax treatment.

Can anyone use your company? Can I, a bloke living in Serbia trade using Trading 212?
Also, since you offer 0 commission on trades, how do you make money? At any rate, thank you for what you’re doing. Have a nice day.
Hi Petar, Serbian residents are welcome to trade CFD instruments with real money on Trading 212. The main revenue comes from the spread in CFD trading.
Thank you!
Do you get paid, and how do you get paid dividends with trading 212?
Thanks for reaching out, Bas. Yes, dividends are paid for both equities (real stocks and ETFs) and open long positions with CFD stocks on Trading 212.They will be transferred directly to your trading account balance.
@Trading 212 no hidden fees on the transfer of dividers to the trading account balance?
My guy, with that chin and that jawline I’d invest in anything you told me to.
Sgt Nooodle hahahahahah
This guy freaked me out on 1:31
In the beginning of this year i started building a portfolio with stocks that gives dividends and so i can get dividends every month. Trying to find stable companies that gives 5% or more. It’s a fun hobby 🙂 In acouple years i won’t (hopefully) need to use my own money but only money from the dividend payouts to buy more stocks with. Good way too get another income.
They don’t pay out each month but how’s it going
what kind of software do you use for the market? cost? best one?

Will Trading 212 still be fully operational in the UK after Brexit ( deal or no deal ) as last time I was checking it is registered in different country? Great video as always.
Thanks for reaching out, Marcin. Rest assured, Trading 212 is a trading name of Trading 212 UK Ltd. and Trading 212 Ltd. Trading 212 UK Ltd. is registered in England and Wales, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, FCA (Register number 609146).
Can we buy dividend stocks using your trading platform? If so, how will these dividens pay out? Will they just be added to your account after the companies payout?
Hi, Svyatoslav. The answer to both questions is “Yes”. Dividends are paid for both equities and open long positions with CFD stocks on Trading 212. They will be transferred directly to your trading account balance.
Is there an easy way of knowing if a stock given dividends or do i have to go to the different financial sites of the company to find out?
How are the dividends played through trading212 does it go straight into my bank acount or does it automatically re invest or do I get to choose. Any help is welcome.
The dividends are applied to the account balance directly.
I want to start investing in dividends at age 18 but don’t know how to start. I know to aim for 5% returns and reinvest and what sectors to invest in but what companies exactly? And also, if I was to invest my money into a specific company, will it automatically count as a dividend or must I somehow manually turn on the dividend option (I’ve never invested in dividend stocks before)
Great video. Are these dividend payments automatically reinvested with trading 212 or do I need to press a button for this to happen?
Hey James, all due dividends on Trading 212 are paid out automatically when the time for that comes.
@Trading 212 thankyou for the response. Is there a way to get them automatically reinvested. I am guessing if not I would have to buy more separately. Thank you.
Trading 212 doesn’t pay dividends on it’s equities though? There doesn’t seem to be any information on which equities pay dividends or how they are paid into the account. I asked trading 212’s live chat and they said they do pay but couldn’t explain how. Any help greatly appreciated on how I know if an equity bought on the invest platform (not CFD’s) will pay dividends and how much? Thank you have a great day everybody!
Hey there, thank you for your questions and your interest in how dividends work on Trading 212.
Rest assured that if a company does pay out dividends and you’ve invested in said company’s stock prior to the dividend date (or ex-dividend date for CFDs respectively), you will be entitled to receive the corresponding dividends once they’re officially paid out.
Trading 212 thank you for a quick and clear answer! Is there somewhere I can read this in the terms and conditions though? Link to it on your website would be exceptional! ? Thank you.
Trading 212 thank you! Also, is that paid into the overall account as cash? Not more of the same equity? Any link to these t’s and c’s about the invest platform that covers this would be fantastic. Thank youb
Certainly! The dividend payment values are added to your account balance, which you can then withdraw or reinvest. You can find more specific information on that in Chapter 19 of the Client Agreement you receive when opening an account with us, found here – https://www.trading212.com/en/client-agreement-st.
Trading 212 thank you very much! That chapter says:
19.2. We will be responsible for claiming and receiving dividends, interest payments and other income payments accruing to your Investments we hold on your behalf.
19.3. You shall be solely responsible for providing us with your instructions in respect of clause 19.1 and 19.2 above but if we are unable to obtain your instructions we may, without incurring any liability, use our judgement and act as we think fit in your best interest.
What’s the best way to supply instructions?
How can you view estimated dividend yield from a stock on the trading 212 platform?
You can’t… Check on Google finance
Does Trading 212 Invest pay out dividends or is it Trading 212 CFD?
Have u figurd this out? Im wondering also
With trading 212 invest do they pay out dividends directly to me or in to the trading account
I asked the same question did you find the answer?
Does the app trading 212 invest profile gives you divided payment?
@trading 212 Does Trading 212 invest pay out dividends as well or is it only CFD, that trade dividends?
Do you recieve dividends on invest section or only cfd?
Does Trading 212 offer dividend reinvestment?
Do Trading 212 plan to add an auto reinvestment of dividends feature. The sort of thing M1 Finance offer in the states? This would be a much more hassle free way to grow an account.
In addition to me previous comment apparently Trading 212 plan to release the auto reinvestment of dividends this month March 2020. It will be a good feature to have if it gets release this month.
I have a quick question for you. I’m totally new to investing and have just started using your app. I’ve received my first few divident payments, but how do I plough that back in? I’m looking to grow my wealth with compound interest but I’m not too sure how that works with your service. Could you please let me know? I’m a newbie, so apologies for the rather simple question. Many thanks!
Trading 212 doesn’t currently offer automatic reinvestment but its coming soon!! for now youll have to reinvest manually – but hopefully not for much longer!
Does trading 212 invest pays dividends or is it only trading 212 CDF???
Yes dividend are paid out on both the invest and ISA section! not sure the CFD pays dividends!
Anyone know if I will get dividends on BP on trading 212 ?
yes BP pays a dividend 🙂
Will dividend payments simply be paid into your Trading 212 account whenever a company pays one?
yes it does!
Do the Vanguard ETFs on this trading app automatically re-invest there dividens?
depends which one you get – some pay them out some reinvest! Worth checking vanguard website! 🙂
Can I get dividends on stocks and share ISA account?
yeah you can!
Got a love the fact that as he says “historically strong performance if the stock market” there’s a GIANT chart behind him that’s lower at the end compared to the beginning lol.
Good video. Quick question. Why is is that when I get dividends in a company, it will say that I have lost money even though it says +7%
Do you automatically reinvest the dividends?
