Daniel Russel of the Asia Society Policy Institute says the depreciation in the Chinese yuan is a signal to the U.S. that it will fight back. He says China won’t let itself be bullied politically.

Trump: Tariff tweet!
Xi: Hold my beer!
Compare the USA versus China as a heavyweight boxing fight. Trump always attacking with punches which are defended well by China. Trump burn lots of energy but still always attacking. China had only two punches until now which make Trump fell hard. While Trump still attacking, China will hold energy and defending itself until 2020, then China will punch the third and last punch which I think will be a knock-out. Before the end of June/20, the bomb will explode.
@yy l Blind are those that don’t want to see
@Donald Kasper Try to approach a little to the actual reality. The world is working hard to living in peace and prosperity. The wise people know that we depend on each other and together we can make lots of progress for a better life for all. Imperialism is almost dead.
Pure BS.!!
BOOOM!!!
We only believe what these fossil men say.
He set a time bomb in the world, not just USA. I hope they won’t trigger the explosion in his own country, allowing the rest of the world to escape.
Trump has exposed something that has been staring Americans in the face since the 1970s
China has robbed the America industrial base…now that’s bad enough!
But that’s not the scope of their ambitions now, is it?…
No by Alling with Russia and projecting power into the South China Sea…
China now poses a military threat to America and it’s allies (Japan & South Korea)
Their ‘2025’ plan set a goal to replace the ‘West’ as the leader in technological World.
No …No deal today…No deal tomorrow…No deal ever!
Adversaries don’t trade…they compete!….or if that doesn’t work…they fight!
China 2025 is just a plan which all countres are right now doing for their citizen.
Does any country set a goal to produce mass clothes and announce it?
Of cause every country is in developing in techs. No matter you are developed or developing countries. both Indian and Japan wanna produce stealth jet fighter or super carrier or satellites.
Only US think it is the problem that China should not developed tech.
And try to compete not trash other countries dude.
And if you feel afraid of China try to think about that China is a huge country since ancient times.
And a lots things are very important that are invented by them such as gun powder or papers, or even paper money which now has been almost ended by china.
China is just another strong civilization on earth.
Check out the Great Wall and The Terra Cotta Warriors. No other civilization could compare them.
So China returns to where it used to be is much easier for you to accept. 200 years ago even without industrialization, China has the top 1 GDP in qing dynasty which is bullyed a lots by west.
So most of the time, China is a dominant power.
@Louis Wu In essence we all agree.
LOCK HIM UP FOR THE SAKE OF THE WORLD!
China has not robbed anything…..corporations lobbied politicians to pass laws and AGREEMENTS so they could MOVE THEIR industries and manufacturers out of the US, where labor costs was lower, and labor and Environmental laws were non existent, to INCREASE THEIR PROFITS…..politicians passed the laws and agreements, and corporations….moved!……and now we want to blame China??…..C’mon….
@Bruce DaBuc Ok my friend we’ll leave ‘China has not robbed anything for a second’…
As you get older you may come to realize ‘facts’ are not as useful as you first might think…without ‘context’ and ‘perspective’…
What you say about American business practices are indeed ‘true’ but a little ‘context’ might reveal a different perspective…
Back in the day…1950 to be exact, America faced up against a resurgent China in what the World came to know as the Korean war… Now America had a choice then, to follow the path it had laid out for Russia or come up with something a little less adversarial…They ‘worked’ on that question for quite some time…
Roll on to 1972…and ‘Nixon meets Mao’ and a new day dawns for Sino-US relations…A relationship built on ‘trade’ was established…China became the ‘workshop’ to the world and the US got to import ‘deflation’ A win-win for BOTH sides.
China lifted 700 million people out of abject poverty…an American’s lived a lift style unheard of in human history…
A ‘good’ relationship is one where both sides ‘get something’ out of it…and they both did!.
That’s all gone now…with no hope of turning back the clock… Now they are enemies…and that will end badly….maybe for both of them…Me I know ‘who’s’ side I’m on…that is never a question…for me anyway…
@ikm64 — facts are not normally useful for people with ideological points to defend. History is full of information ‘out of context’, because ‘history’ is normally written by those who win the wars and the conflicts….. I may not live to see it, but the only chance the world has, is for young people to start looking at the facts and the truth, and discount the lies and the propaganda, in which we swim up to our ears every day in the west.
General MacArthur dismissed the Chinese in 1950 during the Korean War, believing they would never intervene and when they did allied forces got seriously bloodied and now the current administration is doing the same economically and a lot people here, beginning with farmers and spreading to other groups, are going to get hurt. Never start a “war” real or trade with an adversary who is willing to take a lot of hits but also hit back.
Well said.
No matter what happen to USA , ☝️Trump himself and family will not be affected to become a multi billionaire from his world tariffs and sanctions .👌
He is right. China wants all tariffs removed. But, Trump needs tariffs to replenish Treasury. No easy compromise !
trump can’t even think that deeply. Sorry.
THE TOP 10 THINGS TRUMP ATTACKS:
1. The American economy (with his tariffs).
2. The Article I branch of our federal government. (Not allowing congressional oversight which is literally congress’s first job as stated in the constitution.)
3. The Article II branch of our federal government. (He stated in front of the cameras that he wanted to “get rid of judges.” I’m sure all criminals do…)
4. American safety. ( His “tax cut” removed and gave away 800 billion dollars from Medicare that was earmarked for mental health issues. Also, he and the GOP rolled back an Obama era regulation preventing the mentally ill from getting guns. Interesting that, considering Trump claims mental illness is to blame for the recent mass shootings, even though it was to blame for only one of them.)
5. The Constitution of the United States (you know, that pesky thing that he never read, yet swore to protect and uphold. Still waiting on that…)
6. American farmers (Trump’s tariffs have permanently cost American farmers the market for their produce, profiting Russia and Brazil…)
7. American allies.
8. His political enemies.
9. Helpless women and children fleeing violence and/or starvation, stating for the record at the time that he was being “deliberately cruel.”
10. Anyone that speaks out against him…
SPOT ON…Putin directs trump’s actions.
wait until China signal they are dumping US treasury. they don’t need to go it. but just send signal. buy gold to protect ourselves.
That’s baloney! You should be thankful for our President Trump, who strives to put the interest of America inspite of the greed of few capitalists that undermine the administration’s agenda.
Sometimes it takes a bully to take on a bigger bully
One thing the expert got it wrong was that Trump would stop if the price for the US is too high. Trump does not care about the American people. He only cares wether he personally benefit from the trade war economically and politically.
Another Chinese agent
Anther CIA troll.
China thinks, it can starve one billion people and still function.
The way i see it is: the US has a lot of people on food stamps, a lot who can’t pay car and student loans. Owes 22 trillion and rising by $45,000 per second. I also think Trump is losing support, this will make him do more crazy things. Just my thoughts.
To exploded with profits!!
Another TRUMP presidency should be enough to set the USA back by 20 years due to massive economic / financial chaos and possibly a hot war with IRAN.
The US is already 22 trillions in debt, the bomb has been place. It just takes something to go off.
@Josh Yang, Even if the USA is USD 40 trillion in dept, because of the “Petro -Dollar” the USA can never go bankrupt, unless the global trading community return to the GOLD Standard or some sort of intrinsic financial values that can be trusted as a measure of real wealth.
What will trigger the collapse of the USA is the deep ideological differences when the socialist rich enforces their capitalist will on the have-not as was the case in China during the early 20th century. Trump is just the final few puzzles left in the equation to reach that Rubicon Line of no return.
Like the previous empires of yonder years Empire USA will surely bring down the global community with them through a final global nuclear wars in their desperate attempt to reset the pecking order on their terms. It’s not a question of IF, but WHEN.
No way, you mean Don the Con set a time bomb? what could go wrong with Don Bankruptcy, he graduate from the esteem Trump University.
Idiot mafia Trump team is ruling USA in criminal method and way for Trump’s first.
Go China . . .
actually should kick the US out of any global system, tired of them playing fire around the world
I guarantee trump and his buddies are trading on these wild swings caused by his tweets.
Nobody like tariffs but not for trump
Wall Street had it all wrong again! The inversion curve is not only signaling looming recession and weak economy ahead . This is deflationary at a global scale just like a tsunami strike by the time you see it is already too late !
I have said before..Donald will have to learn to lick its blue balls after all the dust settles down. China has a few more tricks for the bully of the world.
BS, the looming world economic crisis conditions were set decades ago. It just happens to be Trump at the helm when the ship finally sinks. The same problems were there under Reagan, Bush Snr and Jr, Clinton and Obama. I could borrow a million dollars, it doesn’t make me a millionaire.
Bull s h. It
China really really want to have a trade deal? Really really? Don’t waste your time dreaming. China’s economic is really really bad now? Really? We American is so comfortable hearing this, keeps saying. Kudlow.
