If an officer is doing their job in a professional manner with forethought, intelligence and proper training, they shouldn’t have to be second guessing or hesitating when they have to pull the trigger. It’s the inherit risk of the job. If one doesn’t believe they should be held accountable when they make a mistake, then don’t take the job. If the leadership is worried whether their officers are going to hesitate to pull the trigger because they are no longer immune to scrutiny or accountability, then that hesitation itself is an indication that maybe they shouldn’t. Instead of spending police budget dollars on military grade assault vehicles, maybe they should invest in more training hours instead. Confidence is born of knowledge and proper training.

If they end the life of a person instead of bringing that person to trial, they should immediately be charged with deliberate obstruction of justice and be held accountable on that basis.
