We were not meant to be there for 100 years, if the Afghan military will not stay at their posts. We can teach them to use weapons, but we can’t teach them to stand at their posts. The Taliban, like the Vietcong are willing to wait a 100 or a 1000 years for their victory. Besides, we trained the Mujhahadeen (Taliban) back in the late 80’s early 90s with shoulder mounted stinger missiles, which lead to the Soviet defeat. Our mission was never to prop up a corrupt paper regime. I am glad the President will be there in NYC, or Shanksville. Just as I was for 43, 44, 45!

The cameraman who filmed the first plane and followed Chief Pfeifer till the collapse of the two towers is Jules Naudin, a French journalist who was there to make a documentary about the New York firefighters.
Why didn’t the sprinklers work? And weren’t there any fire extinguishers 🧯 on each floor with an ax?
A freakin’ ariplane hit the building….I doubt sprinklers would have helped.

As someone else said, the planes cut the water and destroyed the sprinklers so they didn’t work. Fire extinguishers did exist but I wouldn’t do much except extinguishing small fires. I’m not sure if there was an ax on each floor but it wouldn’t help much if you’re stuck in an office and the ax is in the hallway on the other side of the building.
