I think it is to simple to call it friendship. I think they both know that stability in the region is needed to counter an unstable US. The territorial problems are far less important then monetary stability and connectivity.

It’s hard to argue against this, when the US president believes in an “America First” policy. Is it any surprise then, when you get a Europe first a Japan first, a Korean first, a Saudi first response. This has being the biggest American foreign policy failure in American history. America leads by example, so what do you think will happen when America sets a bad example. Go figure!
@JackyThamGK Many things America has done in the past, I will not defend, for two main reasons, one I just don’t agree with it, and two, sometimes what has being done, is just morally wrong. That said, and conceded, If you look at the long record of human history , conflict is what we do, it’s how the really big issues are resolved, and accepting that, my preference is being on the winning side. So if you have being lucky enough to live in the West, you have enjoyed a living standard unprecedented in human history. You didn’t get that for being a nice guy. UN PC, Oh yes! but there’s the truth in a nutshell. If you live in the East your time of empire may be just around the corner, sadly if you think that will happen peacefully, I personally think you’d be very wrong. @JackyThamGK First can I just say, I do respect Eastern culture, it’s contributed many valuable things, over several thousand years to the whole of humanity. On a personal level I live right beside a small “China town” so I encounter Asian people all the time. I find them to be hard working , family orientated , and law abiding. So as a conservative, their display of values, I identify with, and deeply respect. My view’s at times can be un pc I accept that, but I do not intend to offend anybody. Now all that said going back to my comments; I fully accept America is going through a crisis of identity, and many actions, by many actors, can be defended by no one. My reference to “nukes” are in the context , no empire has ever closed up shop and simply went away. The go out swinging, and will hit out at those who they see are challenging their hegemony. I have no reason to believe the US will be any different in this regard. Some parts of your comment I find difficult to understand so excuse me if I interpenetrate something wrong. You mentions Trump , so on this subject can I say I’m not a fan of this man, in any way, but on some very specific issues I do agree with him, notably trade issues. Chinese yuan is a weak currency, which is backed by an economy with inflated if not faked statistics, its value should be at least 3 to 4 times lower than present exchange rates against usd, euro, yen and sterling. Chinese people are actually dumping their own currency in order to swap for usd via all kinds of means of money exchange, whether underground, smuggling or laundering, its the reality the rest of the world seem dont know about !
