Some major retailers are concerned over what is being called “organized retail crime” where shoplifters are getting away with hundreds of dollars in goods with little repercussion. NBC News’ Jacob Ward reports that the pharmacy giant Walgreens is now closing some stores in San Francisco due to the issue.

SF police does not respond and doesn’t care, they don’t think it’s even worth their time even if you showed video and evidence, it’s not like they’ll try to catch these thieves. if you have been there at Walgreens, you will see. multiple people steal freely everyday and there’s nothing you can do about it – imagine the workers and their safety too. i’ve even seen them getting threatened. the city can claim anything they want and try to blame Walgreens, it’s just another way of their reflecting the real problems.
Question is, what other entities are going to follow suit into these closures? Walgreens is not the only ones getting robbed. I feel that the closing of stores will push thieves into nicer neighborhoods. Cali has it’s priorities in the wrong places and will sink Cali into an abyss AF lawlessness…

That average salary is a BULLSH!T number. That’s for full time employees. Almost everywhere will start a full grown adult with 20 yrs work experience, a child, a partner, rent, groceries, gas and on and on and on at a measley starting wage and act like u should be grateful. As someone who has traveled, I have found it easy to tell when I am in San Francisco or when I’m in a third world city. There is less homeless poop on the sidewalks in third world cities.
This journalist does not know how to do his job properly. How crime statistics are gathered and reported needs to be taken into account. Many people do not report theft and police departments lower crime numbers so the Chief can keep his job.

Ha ha employees are stealing also when they stock up at night. The Walmart in my town is shutdown and going to be demolished. Cause management was stealing $$$$ and employees were stealing electronic devices for $$$$$ cellphones and gaming systems band Blu-ray players. Walmart Cooperate Office said shut it down. When top exceutives arrived unannounced and seen employees stealing and managers. Allot of people where arrested and had to pay Walmart back. It’s a vacate lot where Walmart used to be. Employees can’t get jobs cause cooperate office listed all employees has theives.

You can buy the same items for half the price at walmart. The last time I went to walgreens was when walmart was closed around my way or when an item was out. Walgreens doesn’t offer anything cheaper than its competition like CVS and Rite Aid. Mostly females with coupons go to walgreens.

More like only shoplifters are going to walgreens but no customers and they don’t have employees to monitor because they reduced the work hours and security at walgreens because everyone is going to walmart or amazon so they sales are low. Plus during the coronavirus pandemic people don’t have money to waste though the big store retail chains were already suffering thanks to online shopping, the pandemic only sped up the closer of many big box stores like sears and kmart.
