Ukraine will go with F-16 like Romania (F-16 from Portugal). MiGs is no way to go, as russia will sanction all parts.
You do realize the reason that we never saw any video of kills accept cell phone ( unlike Iraq , Syria….) for days is because NATO is telling Ukraine every position of Russia’s movements right. @Raging Monk Slovakia will soon retire their MiG-29, they awaiting F-16V, Poland is also awaiting F-35 to replace Fulcrums, Bulgaria is replacing them already with F-16. Trick is both polish and slovakia (Poland uses mix of polish, czech and german MiGs) , are all export variants 9.12A. Bulgaria uses more advanced 9.13. Both polish and slovakia MiGs received upgrades to cooperate with NATO, however their combat performence remains the same as in the 80s. It’s unlikely those birds will fly past 2025, as they are already past their original service life. They are outdated. Ukraine and Belarus MiG-29 are newer, as those are late soviet models after modernisation.

We can debate all the politics that lead up to this conflict and question why the US stayed so long. This does not take away that anyone with empathy for mankind wants diplomacy to succeed as it would avoid war. It is interesting that you bring up race, we are witnessing war first hand via digital media unlike anything previously documented. The cries of Ukrainian women and children as they say goodbye to fathers and brothers whom bravely defend a Russian invasion is being felt globally. An underdog fighting for sovereignty in Europe against one of the strongest military powers in the world will play into western emotions. I think you are correct that the west is less connected to Afghanistan emotionally, so as Russia escalates its aggression against an inspiring Ukrainian leadership and it’s brave people fighting against all odds. We will witness the dark side of war playing out in-front of us, urban ware-fare will claim the lives of women and children. At this point western public opinion will slowly support some form of military intervention. Let’s hope the world can find balance again, but it doesn’t look like a diplomatic solution is coming anytime soon. Stay safe.

You do not have to train the Ukrainian Air Force to operate Mig-29’s, L-39’s and Su-25’s they operate them now, that is the whole point, good grief, this guy is clueless. Ukraine lost a bunch on the ground when Russia attacked their air bases in the surprise attack, the Polish, Slovakian and Bulgarian air craft would replace those lost then Poland, Slovakia and Bulgaria could replace those given to Ukraine with Western fighters. Unfortunately your only talking about 20-40 Mig-29’s at most they could give and less than that with the Su-25’s which is the Russian version of the A-10 Warthog ground attack aircraft, a tank killer. The L-39 light ground attack aircraft supply fortunately is almost endless, they are still being made by the Czech Republic in their updated form.
But who would operate the jets effectively? wouldn’t it be a good opportunity to see how effective the patriot and THAADS missile defense systems are are?

Because the Ukrainian pilots and ground crew are already familiar with these aircraft types and have the facilities and weapons to arm them already. They are still very capable jets, especially against Russian jets. They are not going up against F-22s after all
