The question is whether the US should tolerate American-Russian dual citizenship in the first place any longer. Russians should have to choose.
We should also make it a VISA requirement for any new visas to Russians coming from Russia that they need evidence of criminal prosecution, a detainment or arrest for protesting the war. Those are the only Russians we should let into the country from now on.
Prior to 1967 The United States did not allow dual citizenship. Here is one very good reason why. My dear old and very wise Grandad used to say: “A man cannot be a slave to two Masters!” Divided loyalty has it’s consequences and you don’t want to be on the short end of the stick. We have military personnel who find their career promotions capped and security clearances either capped or downgraded solely because they marry a foreign national. If such a person is deemed as a potential risk, I would think that any citizen who chooses a dual loyalty would be either the same or higher risk factor.
