WHY WORKERS ARE QUITTING:
First, EMPLOYEES QUIT because they wanted to work from home.
The reality is, any employees got USED to working remotely, not having a commute, and being able to focus on their work without any office distraction – and that’s something they want the option of keeping.
Second, Employees are looking for LESS WORK.
With a labor shortage and a strong economy, employees now have a chance to look for other opportunities where they could make the same – if not MORE money, for fewer hours and less work – so, they’re taking it.
Third, people are quitting because they value CAREER GROWTH.
It was found that “80% of those thinking of leaving a job are concerned about career growth, and nearly 75% say the shut down made them rethink their skill sets.” It was even said that “High-performing workers are the most concerned about career advancement in their current jobs, and they no longer feel geographically tied to local employers in a remote world.” Some people are even taking this into their own hands, with “new business applications the highest on record in 2021.”
Fourth, employees are also quitting because they’re getting BETTER OFFERS with HIGHER PAY.
Workers who stay loyal to the same job make, on average, 50% LESS than someone who switches jobs every 2-3 years. That’s because workers who switch jobs are able to negotiate better terms with an increased pay…and now, during a worker SHORTAGE, the EMPLOYEE has more leverage in terms of who they pick to work with.
And fifth – companies are flat out getting more competitive.
In 2022…Employees have the upper hand, so – to entice them to join a new company – employers have to pay more, offer better conditions, and give more flexibility. Even industries in “Silicon Valley” are no longer geographically tied to San Fransisco, with a staffing agency saying: “what we’re seeing is basically a 40% premium when comparing current ranges against pre-Covid salaries for tech workers.”
HOWEVER – According to a new survey…. 72% of workers who changed their jobs were surprised to learn that their new roles were DIFFERENT from what they were led to believe…causing a term known as “SHIFT SHOCK.”
The reason for this is twofold: one, job seekers aren’t asking the right questions during an interview, and two – it could be that the recruiter misrepresented the role, or was overly optimistic about the company to get them to join. It’s also difficult to assess a new workplace through Zoom, and when candidates don’t visit an office in-person – THAT can present future challenges.
As a result, more and more workers are choosing to QUIT THEIR JOBS – AGAIN – than stick it out for one to two years to avoid a “stain on their records.” In fact, 80% of millennials and Generation Z say it’s OK to leave a new job in six months…1-in-5 admitted that they would quit within a MONTH if it’s not as expected…and nearly HALF would try to get their old jobs back.

I just quit mine last week. Feeling Good.
I spent two months during pandemic learning all about the stock market now I’m trading and making a second income.
Companies are making record profits and crying about lower productivity? Yeah, right.
Ironically I quit my 9-5 to become day trader haha, going well so far 👍
good luck!
I just watch u for the info. Just please try to work on your annoyingness
I decided to work from home also. Unfortunately, no matter how many burgers I flip no one is coming over to order anything.
Graham is transposing a LOT of words these days….most commonly saying “What’s up Graham it’s guys here” in this video at 0:13 mark, “the turns have tabled”…is this some game or challenge I missed? I mean he has a small crew to help film & edit…how is this slipping by?
made a gentle tap of the like button for the chipmunk…
Just one question… how will you eat, and pay the bills?
We are tired of paying taxes which are then used to send you folks stimmies.
My job is struggling as people quit left anf right to find better jobs. I don’t know if your idea of one person doing the work of two or three people can really hold up over time.
My daughter thought the chipmunk was cute!
Great to hear. The easy money era is closing. Get back to work. Theres only so much need for working out of the home office online. The Great Resignation is a joke. Hilarious to hear “I work remotely and am holding out for the righ job that fits my talent.” What talent? Hopefully companies will start releasing these employees and cutting benefits as they are nothing more than remote independant contractors.
Disliking due to too many ads .
My biggest complaint for people working home is that they are never there when I need to call them.
When I had to work from home, I had to move all of the equipment to my house. Then I was working around the clock. My customers were visiting my house to do the testing. They sometimes stay and have a dinner at my house. When I run automation test, I get up around the midnight to check on the test to make sure I get the correct results in the morning. I was literally working around the clock. And I find out many of coworkers are pretty difficult to connect.
I couldn’t wait to get back to the office. I am no longer working around the clock. No customers can visit my office due to Covid. I rarely stay after. I got my life back.
And for those people who think WFH is more efficient, that’s a delusion and laziness talking. If you wanna earn money, put some elbow grease and get to work.
I’m adding to that number but that’s because my company is going bankrupt and has incompetent management that doesn’t know how to spend money.
Edit: manage money.
This video was brought to you by zip recruiter. “Hey Graham, we will pay you a bunch of money to make a video for us”. You make up all the content. We don’t want to deal with the public. This is an infomercial
The self reporting of an employee saying they are more productive at home is completely unreliable.
In the rail industry it became such a PITA trying to get a hold of someone “working” from home to get an answer. Meanwhile at the shop, we are stuck waiting twiddling our thumbs unable to move forward. I’ve worked at three different rail companies, in this time and it was the same issue at each.
If you were an animal you would literally be a chipmunk Graham!
I’m a very strong believer in the effectiveness of ‘passive’ in-person collaboration. Even if you aren’t necessarily in meetings or other ‘active’ focused engagement with others, observing the information being thrown around the office, over long period, really stacks up and makes the difference between an adequate employee and an excellent employee. Passive collaboration and knoledge accumulation that doesn’t require your attention (i.e. not having to call or setup meetings to share knowledge and info) allows you to pack more within your work hours. If the work that you do doesn’t require any collaboration or creativty that’s fine and my point doesn’t apply. However if you work in a field creative and critical thinking are the key to growth and success, go to the office in the morning and thank me later.
Can you do a video about yield curve inverting and what it does to the economy as a recession. We are almost there.
The grass isn’t always greener
I am currently looking for work applied to 40 positions so far yet no interview 🤣
Has been an awesome time to start a side hustle!
Commenting for da algorithm
How do you table a turn? I question your credibility.
People are tired of poor management, low or stagnant wages and toxic work environments. I think this is the root cause of a lot of it.
You can’t kiss people’s ass when you’re working from home…so there’s one disadvantage for the people who’s strategy to move ahead is befriending the right people. As opposed to doing quantifiable work that actually justifies your position and pay.
All this is mainly to do with people bashing keyboards all day or making calls. There are a lot of people that will never be able to work from home so the title is a little click baity
Being with people around my age (2003) people at my job would quit for little things such as a denied vacation time, or a slight, temporarily inconvenience. Now many are begging my boss for their job back, and mad because they aren’t- due to quitting on bad terms
I just realised I realy like the sound of your voice and care less ’bout the subject 😄
Trading with an expert is the best strategy for newbies and busy investors who have little or no time to monitor trade
Fantastic upload Graham! “More” is an infinite hole that can never be filled, and hopping to another job just for the money won’t cut it. This is the time to quit the corporate gig, come down to the beach, and live your dream as a lifeguard! We’re hiring 😎🌴🏄♂
I am a worker that shows up every day, and achieves all my supervisor roles. They’ve outsourced people into roles I’m trying to get promoted to. Sounds nice wherever the hell you’re talking about that promotes within. Where can I find something like that? Lmao
You quit b******* Graham 20 f****** million dollars give us some real content not just things about
Learn a skill. Start from scratch. Gain experience. Switch companies every few years. Buy Lambo. Thanks Graham!
The pandemic taught me that I’m in control of my labor. I love being a contractor right now while I’m young and full of energy. So much more motivating than the endless zoom calls from my previous job. Plan to get my masters next year, get some more hard skills and go from there. Thought provoking video graham!
Hey Alex
Tables have turned.
I quit my Job back in June 2021. I took the rest of the year off to pursue other interests and now I’ve been working Door Dash and Uber Eats since January while I work on getting my real estate license and saving up enough money to buy my first property. I never want to go back to a regular job.
I received my first dividend in the amount of $1.71. I’m ready to retire
I made 0:10$
I will love to Invest
How much did you invest?
Stock’s are crashing, Bitcoin Investment right now will be at every wise individual list in a month you we be ecstatic with the decision you make today
People are ignorant of the profitability in bitcoin Investment and that had been their major issues limiting their Investment
I had to wear large gaming headphones at work in order to get my work done. I am very introverted but feel this push is for extroverts that are unable to work to their full potential unless they have a collaborative environment (managers are usually social extroverts in our organization). I get horribly distracted in these open office layouts and then distract others. I have a special skill set and managers don’t realize that very little of my collaborative work is actually done with anyone in my project team or department but instead consulting with other specialists or our legal/regulatory departments. 90% of the collaboration is also achieved with a 15 to 60 minute phone call
The turns have tabled?
Glad it’s not your last but don’t waste our time like that again please
My neighbor said that his job(computer programmer for an electric company)told all the office staff they were to work from home indefinitely in order to save on rent, electric, heating etc.
He saves$150.00 in income tax. Win-win.
You would be a fool to leave your babies. April Fools aka Trolling Click Bait. 😂
Bulldoze all those corporate buildings and build apartment complexes or homes.
I’m glad my company continues to adapt a hybrid model and not force anyone to come back in person.
awesome job getting on the ramsey radar bro!
More fake news, workers pretending they are gonna quit,
I think a lot of times when people are unhappy at a job they dont have great insight into what is making them unhappy. I’ve had several experiences where workers will complain to management about a specific pain point of their job causing management to make cha ges to address this person’s concern only for them to still be unhappy and end up finding new employment
Hmmmm. I thought it was because they were sacking people who refused to be given an experimental vaccine jab. 🤔
The end is BS, u’re advertising Return to Office based on all the things we don’t care about. The arguments were work-life balance, save commute time and productivity, not career growth, which I’m willing to sacrifice
Companies forcing people back to the office because that is also what keeps economy to run. If you don’t travel to work you will spend less gas, you won’t go to the restaurant for lunch, you won’t go to Starbucks for coffee etc… I don’t protect them, I work remotely I am not going back to the office no way, if they want me back I am out.
I quit my job, no regrets, found a better job with better pay and less work load.
Hey Graham instead of giving us pictures of cut animals how about some cute anime girls. Lol of course though if you can’t do that that’s OK I have my camera roll for that
Here’s the breakdown, we are not growing up in the same geo-political or economic atmosphere as our parents and they didn’t grow up in the same as theirs. When they give advice, most of them will say “get a great education and get a great job.” That formula worked in their generation. And still works today but the rules have changed. A great education can be found on youtube, for free or in books for purchase or libraries! Unless you’re becoming an engineer, doctor, lawyer etc. School en mass is a waste of time and money. Most educational institutions have recognized this trend and offer useless courses to take your hard earned money. The truth is, most educational institutions have substantially watered down the education they provide to their students; but, the real brass tax comes when you land that job and nothing of it, applies to what you actually do on a day to day basis. So all that piece of paper says to a potential employer is this person is a really good follower. They follow the rules, they follow the principles and guidelines. I love that Graham has carved his own path and provided very thoughtful content in an easy to digest manner. Thank you! Keep on grinding.
I had a feeling oil companies are also pushing the narrative that everyone should go back to the office through the various complicit media outlets, why? Well what do you think? Means driving to work and spend on gas to keep big oil companies in business also old people who are too stubborn to adapt to new technologies and this new world.
How did YouTube know I quit my job today… 😂
Who are they asking to get these numbers? I was never asked. i feel left out lol
yea some people don’t want to climb a ladder. They just want to be happy, and that means working from home.
well i expect to see the same thing in about a year you think people would learn but they have to regret it again im retired i did it in the 1980s it might to have been a little different but the truth was i was imature just like young people of today i wanted what i wanted and i learned good luck
Never had a good job to begin with lol
I’m gen z and two months ago I quit my 9-5 at target and now I flip houses with my roommates and we talk about this a lot. I think it’s just turning into a time in society where people realize they don’t need a job to make money and focus more on entrepreneurship or pursuing their passions professionally.
“Hey boss, don’t worry about me missing out on my career growth by coming into the office. You take care of you, I’ll take care of me.” 😂
LOL
It’s a HUGE security concern having people barely recognized showing up to an office infrequently. Also all the employers at Google and Apple complaining about not remote working… are they willing to take responsibility for source code and information stolen from their home networks?
If the cost of living for fuel, housing, and food weren’t so high there might be less pressure to move around jobs so much…Also, Economics and College Track REQUIREMENTS should be replaced in high school by the Trades/VOC ED and Basic Home Economics Class like from the old days so 18 year old kids don’t saddle themselves with all this wasteful and burdensome student debt…
Pay for my gas & car maintenance and I’ll come to the office, food isn’t enough to get me in lol
Employers want you to stay busy and stressed out so you don’t have the time to think about how to get out off the rat race
Return To Office ? Ok, I am going upstairs.
Where did they get 70% from?
The work at home question is a tough one. Getting people off the road and saving that commute time is HUGE. But there is a good point in regards to having a team that works together and networking (by not using a “network” run by a cable lol) On the employer’s side, it can be a little tougher to make sure employees are working especially with it being a paid by-the-hour job. If the employee doesn’t purchase the right equipment, the ability to work can be crap also. On the other hand, not needing an office for anyone to commute to is potentially a huge savings for a business. And eliminating the office actually puts the cost-to-operate burden onto the workers at home: soaking up electricity, cooling/heating, Food/water etc…
I think we really need to shift towards paying for the work instead of paying for the hour. And the alarm bells going off in my head when office workers are refusing to show up to the office is: watch out for when companies realize they can just start contracting foreign remote workers for way less than you.
Dude you look like Arthur
Don’t ask me to like a video until I have watched it. Just like I want you to have credibility I want myself to have credibility with what I am promoting.
Hybrid work is the answer – not sure why this isn’t a bigger piece of the picture
I just quit this evening…4 years in that job
Your source for that 70% was FOX?! Come on…
Did you not hear him say Silicon Valley and advertise for Zip Recruiter, Washington Post, The Muse,
Collaborating? Most workplaces r simply gossip fests. Think u r overstating this issue. All I know is the AMERICAN worker is overall a very lazy worker BUT we also have lousy employers all around!
My dream job was taken from me thanks to an over active government on covid. I lost my job, I have no health care and now I can’t even afford to pay for my bills or food anymore. I had to take a beyond massive paycut and I just can’t survive anymore. I have no health insurance either. I’m so fucked.
What was it?
They called people’s jobs non-essential. That should tell you how valuable your job is. People should be demanding a universal basic income
The turns have tabled!
Wow, yall fucked up work too….yall silicon valley
Wow people are stupid. You advertised throughout whole video plus it has commercials. Bet you think smart but not a greedy fu#%.
COllaboration is a lie. Stop it
Keep voting Republicans for poverty wages ya stup!d sheeps.
IDK… I still see a good number of these employers with unrealistic job expectations, such as master’s degreed starting salary minimum wage earners! Let them offshore their work, or go find an H1B foreigner to do it then…
when the next recession hits people will change their tunes about job skipping.
Go ahead, show up in-office and get that promotion. I’ll still get paid significantly more for significantly less responsibility simply because I’m *willing* to leave and you’re controlled by your fear.
You focus on breaking your back for someone who’s goal is to exploit your spirit, I’ll focus on getting paid more to do less. You get pride, I get paper. Everyone’s happy.
U look and sound like a damn chipmunk 🤣
So glad I found a stupid job that pays me too much for essentially entering times in an excel sheet. I’m not gonna tell you who/where I work I’m just going to tell you the phrase “Building access control”.
Shift shock is what happens when you’re bad at shifting a manual transmission.
Maybe office workers make more, but they also spend more (time and money) to get there. How much is 1-2 or more hours of your life worth every day? If your time is worth $40/hr and you spend 90 minutes in traffic Monday thru Friday, that’s a $15,600 per year opportunity cost.
If you drive 50 miles per day to and from work, your car gets 28 mpg, and gas is $4.50 per gallon, that’s $2,089 in gas per year. Plus 13,000 extra miles on your car and tires, adding to maintenance costs and depreciation.
We haven’t even looked at potential cost of living savings (especially lower rent) that remote workers can benefit from by living further away from big cities. When you do the math, RTO makes little sense financially for the worker.
It’s time to leave the corporate plantation
I’m 50 and in a senior role and have been doing tech work since ’96. i opt not to show up in person… often. 1.5 hrs of my life on the road one way isn’t worth it. eventually life will pass me by. I’m ok with that promotion passing me by first.
I love how they drop these polls. Who taking these polls. I’ve never taken one.
Let us work from home
Synonym for employee? SLAVE.
I know I’m wasting my time asking none of you Millennials or Gen Z’ers are gonna answer my old Gen X ass but I have to ask how are all you millennials and Gen Z’ers able to financially afford to just not work anymore? I just saw a segment on Fox News about the guy that wrote the book about generation Z not going back to work and I just don’t get how y’all are able to do it. I was always led to believe that we Americans live hand to mouth paycheck to paycheck now all of a sudden you youngsters can just not work and survive now?Im not a good capitalist I’m not cut out for capitalism it just doesn’t suffer my kind. I’m kinda impressed that you younger generations can tell the Gen X’ers and Baby Boomers to eat dung and do it your own way.
This video came up as im about to leave my job for a higher paying one
dealing with this great man who have been the people Joe he has transform my life. from grass to grace thanks to him I could carry out the responsibility of a mother to my children responsibility.
