I agree with Sachs on so many issues, but to say American leadership is naive, I just can’t agree. With the layers of intelligence staff, think tanks, and so on, there are people who very clearly know the reality. ‘Corrupt’ and ‘insane’ are two words I would use to describe American leadership.
Although there may be some who are sophisticated rather than naive, there are a wide range of human traits which render hazy a vision of how much earthly destruction is likely before plan b develops. It seems approval for funding for Afghanistan efforts are now made available to Ukraine, almost to the penny.

I don’t think the current goal is to defeat Russia but to stop them killing Ukrainians. Of course, Russia is indeed trying to defeat the US and democracy worldwide so there’s that.
The biggest mistake is to believe the MSN propaganda that Russia is somehow struggling in Ukraine. It is not. Just take a look at the ruble exchange rate and the hysteria around shipping more and more military aid to Ukraine. In the next 2-3 weeks the true extent of the success the total demilitarisation of Ukraine will become clear.
