When Queen Elizabeth first visited Kenya in 1952, she arrived as a Princess and left only days later to ascend to the throne. Back then, Kenya was still part of the British Empire.
Now, it’s one of more than 50 members of the Commonwealth of Nations. Some Kenyans feel the Commonwealth itself is coming to the end of an era.

She had a wonderful sense of humour, but also she kept to her vows and gave our nation 70 great years of service and kept going right to the end. But she was not only our queen, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her sons and her grandchildren. There is nothing to mourn about the death of Queen Elizabeth. To us Kenyans, & most Africans & Indians she was a symbol of oppression. It was during her reign in the colonial era that our forefathers were brutalized, killed, raped maimed & all sorts of evil acts subjected to them in concentration camp. They were disposesed of their ancestral land & made to live like squatters. Worse off, after end of colonialism the Queen never took time to acknowledge and apologize to the Kenyan people. Today there are stills Kenyans fighting for justice in the international courts including their UK for atrocities committed to them. In fact, if there is justice after death, may Queen Elizabeth face the consequences of her actions. RIP Queen = Bullshit !
