More than one million households in the Netherlands are struggling to pay energy bills that have doubled or tripled in recent months.
Increasingly, people have decided to cut themselves off from gas, even though winter is coming.
The Netherlands has the highest gas prices in Europe.

5. Start gas exploration again in Groningen in full force
6. Help the people in Groningen to build earth-quake resistant houses
7. Cover all glasshouses of the farmers with semi-transparent glass2glass panels
8. Cover all car parking lots in the open with bifacial glass modules
9. Make public transport free of charge
10. Get rid of min 98% of regulations
11. Replace gasoline and diesel with methanol
12. Expand wind energy massively
13. Use all waste-biomass
14. Start producing H2 in grand scale
15. Capture CO2 emitted by power-plants and with H2 turn it into Methanol
16. Start using ground heat much more
17. Better insulate houses
18. Introduce in every house or business a well seized extremely well insulated warm water boiler and plus a battery of about 10 kWh
19. Introduce a indiscriminatory electricity market, where everyone private or business can put in or get out electricity freely with a max. price difference of 2 cents
20. Open up also the gas market for everybody

Netherlands has GAS Fields to provide for it’s own people, They sell it to abroad for higher prices.
Why they so worried? Dutch still have colonies in carribean, you can spend the whole winter there if necessary…

there’s no way the candles are cheaper than gas, and any substantial heating by burning candles inside would be accompanied by dangerous CO2 levels (maybe even CO).
I have had covid before and have lit candles for warmth during 2021 winter and I felt like I was being suffocated with the the heat and fumes from the candle.
It is cheaper. As they said, gas prices in Europe is already very high, but the Dutch is x2 of the European price.
The poIiticians here are allowing this to exist, to break the country and society down, and to impose their pIans. A minister even said, this will “fasten the energy transition”.
How is that so dangerous? People used candles for centuries to keep warm and see at night..
@Kingu 11 you can’t keep warm with candles, they’re only useful for a little bit of light. you can not heat a closed room with any kind of fire without having it under a chimney to suck off the combustion gasses. if you just light a candle, it won’t heat your room, no matter if you put planter pots over it (doesn’t change the amount of heat or CO2 produced). if you light a big enough fire to warm up the room inside with no exhaust, you will either die of carbon dioxide poisoning, or notice in time and let out the air after getting drowsy and perhaps a headache. if the fire produces much carbon monoxide, you’re more likely to die. that’s why idiots die every year because they decided to have an indoor barbecue, and why people kill themselves by running a car engine in the garage or piping the exhaust into the car.

I’m a builder and outside taps freezing is the worst I usually see
I’m not being ignorant but the vast percentage of anyone over 50 grew up in houses that only had partial heating and we all survived in the U.K.

How many sq inches surface area / acre of land? 6,272,640 sq in. 16929 of these ten five gallon bucket systems have a surface that equals to one acre. 169290 volts of electricity could be produced per acre of surface?
