Survivors were shuttled by bus to see what was left of their homes. Thousands in the disaster zone are still without power, and there’s no running water in Fort Myers Beach.

I would suggest, for the American boat owners to choose some Canadians, and give their boats to Canadians. I suspect there are some Canadians who can take better care of the boats than the Americans.
I have not seen too many boats that were not damaged, or destroyed in the USA. In Canada believe it, or not there are people who can take better care of boats than Americans. I seen this with my own eyes regarding what I am talking about, and I seen more than enough how Americans care, for their boats.

You obviously have not visited Canada. Because if you did then you should have seen how certain Canadians care, for their boats during bad weather. I seen this in person with my own eyes in Canada. I also seen how Americans can’t be bothered with learning how to take care of their boats.
During bad weather in Canada marinas might be empty, so what this means is a lot of canadian marinas might not have boats on the water. However, depending on where someone goes in Canada then boats might be seen on the water at a marina during bad weather. Boats that are left on the water during bad weather should not be kept like how Americans keep their boats on the water.

I did a hurricane in NOLA in the hotel where I built a bar. 3811 St. Charles. But it had been through a lot of hurricanes since 1883.
They built mansions to withstand them.
Been through one in Key West and one in Hawaii. They’re nothing compared to a lava flow.
Is it wise to live on an island in the Gulf? There is after all a reason they are called barrier islands

It’s no surprise a wood structure home in Florida would be completely flattened by a hurricane, especially near the beach. Most of the cement ones are still standing in fair to good condition and are very much salvageable.

You cannot even call yourself a climate refugee because the classification does not exist thanks to the GOP banning the word climate change in Florida.
Barrier Island: “A barrier island is a constantly changing deposit of sand that forms parallel to the coast”. And a little icing on this cake is the fact that 70% of Florida will be a sandbar at low tide by the end of this century. Most of Florida only has about 20 years or so left as far as habitability goes.
Consider rebuilding in another State. Insurance companies will be glad to discuss this option. 🤗

Hurricanes don’t cause damage, they make things right again. It’s a force of mother nature like wildfires, earthquakes and tornadoes. They have hit the Florida Coast for millions of years. We shouldn’t build there if we know this.
I read and hear that hurricanes are expected to become more intense as global warming continues. People may deny this is happening but it’s more evident in places with glaciers which are melting, like up in parts of Canada, the Himalayas, (Pakistan recently had massive floods due glacial melting), etc. It’s ALL interconnected. People in Ft Myers Beach will rebuild to hopefully more stringent building standards. So what to do before another Cat 4,5 comes along? Good thing some folks heeded the warnings and left. You can be as stubborn as you want and stay but you can’t reason with a hurricane. Condolences to the families of those who died.
