I couldn’t help to offer this comment after seeing the hegemonic behaviour of a journalist from a hegemonic country. We all know everyone is suffer inflation because there is too much money for the same amount of goods and services, right? It is on record the two US presidents have printed over $7 trillion dollar and now the world is living with this consequence.
To confront the inflation the Fed in the US has been hiking the interest in quick succession. This brings poverty to everyone especially the low income countries. The inflation drives everything become more expensive and oil, being an essential needy item requires by everyone for its byproducts, will naturally becomes more expensive. Thus OPEC+ response by cutting the supply to avoid loses is to be expected because it is happening to food, commodities and every goods. The naive comment by the hegemonic journalist that the oil production cut could create energy poverty in the west is just a display the the western hegemony. It implies the oil producing countries must bear the inflation but not stopping pumping out oil so that the west can wastefully consume it to support the western high standard of living. The west could raise the interest rate so that everything is more expensive but not the oil.
I am not someone who welcome more expensive oil but historically the dollar has depreciated considerably but the price of oil has never been able to increase to match, yet the US have us to believe the oil is priced with the dollar because it is stable. What we do know the American are still able to consume gasoline at price significantly lower at rate much faster than the rest of the world. Thus the world would be better off if they have to pay a bit more to reduce the differences.
The OPEC+ minister is also correct in saying the pump price is a combination of tax and oil cost. The national governments of the world make far more money from the gasoline tax than the revenue by the OPEC+ countries selling their oil.
Good – can you ration oil and gas to world based on population for equal justice.
The US broke their own leg by disposing their own sources of fossil fuels now they are begging these states, dictatorships or otherwise, to help stabilize the industry that THEY THE US themselves has waged war upon with their “green policies”, and are now crying that they wont play their game.
