lol This is what you get for making your 30th anniversary cost $1,000 for four packs of cards you promised you would never reprint.
Rudybros….. not like this….. the Timmies are taking over. Biden’s America is living Hell. I can’t take this any more. Hold me bros.
They ignored the feedback of the player base for years, screwed over the local gaming stores that supported their product, and shattered all confidence of the collector market by overprinting any card of value.
They completely deserve this.
@Derek von Suppiny It’s always been a very simple answer of how to fix it. Seriously, it’s really easy.
1. Spend more time in R&D. Their job is not done until they are pretty sure the tier-1 standard decks will have a ton of variety (the more decks at the top tier the better)
2. Don’t overprint. Try to match supply with demand.
3. Seriously reconsider printing old cards that destroy value on original copies. There is a balance to be had there.
4. Make it easy for an LGS to support your product and be PROFITABLE about it.
@Edwin the Magic Engineer Balance?! What balance?! The Reserved List was their stupidest idea ever… they should simply end that and print cards for players.
Magic TG was always intended to be a card game, not a mini-stock market value. They print fantasy cardboard, not land titles.
Get over it. It’s the so-called collectors that ruined the game and turned it into a money-grab scheme. It should be a game, just a game.
@Edwin the Magic Engineer thanks Edwin. always like to hear your opinion. Hope to see you and Dan back on unhinged magi soon. You guys have some great videos. Also loving Rudy’s rants on this subject right now.
@Carlos Eduardo Saldanha you are dead wrong and clearly feeling entitled to cards you are not entitled to. Nobody owes you those cards and this hobby was both a collectible and a game from the beginning.
That’s WHY the Reserve List was created. That IS how it started.
@Edwin the Magic Engineer Entitled?! Owes me cards?! lol
I’ve sold out my collection and only play Pauper. I’ve been playing this game since ’96, not yesterday, kid.
If you think your pieces of printed cardboard should retain value, think again. With the C19 pandemic we’ve seen a huge drop on these “valuables”. Because they are just pieces of printed cardboard. Just that. And nothing more than that.
Yugioh, Pokemon, now Flesh and Bone, any given CCG brought to life during the golden age, V:TES, you name it… every single one of those games DON’T have a Reserved List. They’re just games and valued as just games. Grow up.
999$ for 4 boosters and they believed players would pay hahhahahahahahah
When they reprint cards from the reserve list which they promised never to do (value for collectors go down), jack up prices for new sets and release too many sets per year in tough economic times, what do they expect?
they should reprint more from the reserved list, it wouldnt hurt the value of the original cards, at least not by much
Yes, because the Reserved List was the best idea ever in a CCG, said no one ever…
Here is why they are loosing players confidence and hitting overall customer satisfaction low: lack of communication and lack of listening to community feedback. All that is happening now with the game, player insatisfaction and buying less is the culmination of many issues that are discussed in the community and by content creators for several years. The makers of the game (WotC: Wizad of the Coast) has implemented changes at a rate never seen before where each change they make has an impact and now they have no clue what the side effects will be. Their is many side effects over the years that worsen and cumulated to what we see today. Here some of the issues:
1) Once format (Standard) entry for players and way for the company to drive sales of the new set is now almost dead as a paper version because WotC stop pushing and caring for sanctionned tournament play. Most players turned to play that format on the digital version of the game.
2) Many product release that are egregious cash grab and even sometimes customer unfriendly. Their new Universe Beyond initiative of releasing Magic cards theed on other IPs was initially received badly by the community because the first cards made were mechanically unique to the game and obtainable ONLY through direct purchase (Secret Lairs) with WotC during a short period of time. Til to that day, the Universe Beyond comcept is not unanimous among players where some don’t want to see the immersion they have in the Magic IP affected by games where characters from Stranger Things and Fortnite may appear.
3) Magic recent revenue success was only due to the company pushing more and more products on the market and increasing the number of very expensive products and very profitable products such has Secret Lairs. But, many players complained that this perpetual hype train of product release just resulted in becoming disengaged and not feeling hyped for new release. How one could feel engaged with a new products, its story and the new characters when two weeks after the company is teasing the new upcoming sets, 2 Secret Lairs are advertised and leaks for the set coming in two months are in.
4) Price increase. Magic was already an expensive hobby. There is ways to navigate through on a budget by buying cheap cards on the secondary market. But when it comes to buy sealed products it is another story. This year WotC announced an average 11% price increase on any of its products. Add to this that they are now releasing “speciality products” like Double Master, Dominaria Remastered, DOuble Feature, Commander Legends, etc that sell for a higher markup than the “premium sets” and it makes the products a luxury thing for many players. Add inflation and the company that print these products in masses and you get stores having to sell at a loss or gettting stuck with a huge inventory. Even Hasbro reported huge inventory in Q3 2022. Many are asking the company to slow down the pace of release, but the more they voice that desire, it seems the more the company ramp up the pace.
5) Not only the company print more products, but they also added more lines to those products. So this november 2022 the new set Brother’s War release and it comes has JumpStart, Draft, Set, Commander, Bundle and Collector boosters. And this happens with every “premium” release and some variations of this for the “speciality” products. Some cards can have up to 5 different treaments among those product lines. Many players complains that “when all is special, nothing is special” and thus all the shinny collectible things are so abundant that they have lost their appeal has a buying incentive.
6) While the product is very expensive, many are complaining for years of card quality having issues. While not accross the board, it is not infreuent that customers fall on cards with manufacturing issues such has uncentering, foil cards curling, centering issues, coloring variation between two identical cards, ink smudgering, printer lines, etc.
I could go on but will stop here. This game has lot pf passionate players like me. I think the game would thrive more if the Company had better commmunication and was showing that they care about their community and showing they can listen to customer feedback. Has of rigth now the most voiced change that needs to be done is “slowing the pace of release and reducing types of products and print runs” as well as lowering the prices so the game becomes more affordable for average income customers in an inflation era to buy into sealed products.
Good. Hasbro is a dumpster fire. Woke, greedy and incompetent sums them up.
Who also likes tacos?
Why “woke”?!
The Walking Dead fans once saids “shut up and stop crying” LOL
There was a secondary market which was healthy for 20 years and kept prices and stocks up. In the past year they destroyed their own eco-system by re-printing non-stop. You can sheer a sheep many times…
No you dont have to be more diverse, imagine they cant even run a cardgame, let alone anything else.
Let it burn 🤣
Hasbro turned my favourite hobby into a soulless corporate money machine designed to increase profit margins
Always< a great breakdown. I've learned so much from this channel following along with the chart analysis. Gotta remember that this time around the pump we had was not as big as other times. So the drop may not be as bad this time around too. It would make sense as well. That being said, I was able to raise 16 btc from day-trade with Kennet Gibbs in few weeks,so thank you for the info.
Yeah, you’re right … just yesterday i made a huge cash out using his signal
