At least 77 inches of snow was reported in the Buffalo Bill’s home of Orchard Park alone, with an estimated 66 inches in just 24 hours marking a New York state all-time record. New York’s governor is surveying the damage saying about 280 people had to be rescued, with the National Guard helping get people to dialysis appointments. Tonight, nine million people across six states remain under winter weather alerts.

I’m all for responsible conservation, and stewardship. But cutting out our reliable sources of power before we have legitimate alternatives that work in all potential emergency situations, costs lives! Its arrogant, assuming we can survive anything the planet can throw at us, without relying on all of our most effective tools. And I for one want to see people survive!
Gotta wake up to reality America! Despite all our technology, when bad things happen, and it the less reliable tech inevitably fails, the world can still return to being a pretty harsh and unforgiving place at times. We can’t get complacent!
God speed out there. Get some heat going, and some good warm food in your stomachs. Use salt or anything else with the ability to change the freezing point of water, and spread it down on your pathways.
As someone whos lived through plenty of Oregon’s worst blizzard conditions, and silver thaws as well; I can tell you that if you do what you need to do, you can make it through it.
Just tackle it smartly. Stay in when you don’t have to be somewhere. Don’t risk your health. And when you do go out, have a gas powered reliable vehicle with chains or studs. 4 wheel drive even better. And drive carefully. Mind your steps when on foot. Snow can be deceptive. It can be deeper than it looks, and have Ice underneath. Black ice can really slip you up without knowing. So be mindful and take care.

One reason why I enjoy New England is thy they actually treat and plow their roads and slow business down when it snows. Currently in Denver and every morning there’s 5-10 crashes in the area during winter because they never treat or properly plow the roads. They let the sun melt the compacted black ice away….and people drive as if they didn’t have to worry about traction…and that’s why there’s so many issues here.
And that’s why I live in Florida, I’ll take hurricanes over that nightmare
