Pineapple Express usually comes from a broken down storm system usually from Mexico. Some say Hawaii. Like the leftovers of s hurricane. These types of storms are the most dangerous for us Californians as the winds can be high and erratic and still carry dangerous lightning and thunder storms. Interestingly I lived a long time in mostly Fresno County. Now as a granny I reside on the Central Coast not far from the coastline. News reports so far, the Valley got hit probably harder by this storm than my current town. Am a granny now. Lived ten years in Florida so I am well seasoned to this type of erratic weather–3,000 miles away. California as long as I have lived does not get this kind of constant two weeks so far of back to back storm systems, especially the ones hitting the entire state! This state had experienced severe multiple fire seasons a few years ago. Two years ago, many were in unison predicting a heavy rain season. It didn’t happen. Same for last year. Some people will say Bible prophesies. Others say Mother Nature trying to balance herself out.
I am curious about all these weird names, such as bomb cyclone and pineapple express! 🤣😂😅
Yet here in Hawaii there’s no rain…

I grew up in that area (Northern CA), I actually miss that weather, not necessarily storms this dangerous but I do miss the intense rains and storms we would have when I was a kid and teenager growing up there. The massive and powerful waves crashing into the shore and retaining walls near the Presidio in SF, the weeks of rain – sometimes storms with lightening and thunder – a few hours north of the Bay Area, and the occasional strong rains in the San Joaquin Valley are the types of winter weather I grew up with. Anyone who grew up there or in that type of weather knows how satisfying a hot bowl of soup or chili is or a cup of hot chocolate or coffee is on a days like that.
