They never do. When inflation is up and wages are up and revenue is down they have to do layoffs. Cutting cost always starts at the bottom.
It sounds like they actually do their job unlike the people that are making a quarter of $1 million a year and couldn’t tell you what they did all day.

A company should never have to provide an explanation of why layoffs occur. Anybody can get laid off at anytime. Employees should have the right to know what’s going on in the company and make adjustments. If your company has company update meetings, pay attention to what is being said.

If your investors are saying that you need to right-size your business, then it means that the CEO wasn’t paying attention and wasn’t doing his job.
If the CEO has to layoff 12,000 employees at one time, that means they were oversized for quite a long time. That just shows how out of touch the CEO is about the company.

Let’s say with compensation benefits, etc. the total average is $200,000. If you take that amount times 12,000 you get 2.4 billion. That’s a lot of money to buy back stock to make rich people richer.
