The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a man from rough waters moments after the yacht he’d been on capsized, and later found it was the same man who was accused of leaving a dead fish at the “Goonies” house. KGW’s Alma McCarty reports.

The mouth of the Columbia River is treacherous water! Across the river from Astoria in ilwaco washington is the coast guard rescue swimmer school! Definitely a place to stop & check out!

I’ve grown up where this happened. The Columbia River Bar is no joke. This is practically a cake walk for the Coast Guard, those guys are badass. They regularly can be seen training in bad conditions, their boats and handling skills put your average vessel to shame. I’d always wondered what it would be like to take a cabin cruiser out in really rough seas, many thanks to this guy for finding out. That being said, he could have just kept stuffing the bow and rode it out. That boat was plenty capable. Worst pirate I’ve ever seen.
