#Pandemic #Covid #Offices
Fake news ! in other words there no jobs folks !
Wonder when this will happen. Good to see!
Paid segment.
15 minute cities.
Yeah, just blame covid
The golden triangle? Yeah that’s not china….
I noticed in my part of the world (Los Angeles and San Francisco) much less office workers so much less business for downtown restaurants and the like, but I wonder where in the world people are driving to. Traffic is bigger than ever on the freeways, but public transit (rail, buses) is less. With less people going downtown to work, why are they still driving like they got to get to the office by 8:00?
I doubt the knew Apartments will be affordable for the average citizen!
When professionals don’t want to move back into the city they will turn all the apartments into section 8.
Ppl getting evicted around the world do we really need more places
If a business can do without a employee coming into the office, they probably can do without that person as a employee.
This is something that needs to be done in every metropolitan city! There are thousands of empty office buildings that can be converted into living space. Kudos Mr Cohen for doing this!
Atlanta, GA’s Mayor Andre Dickens is doing this to create affordable housing.
Asia has been doing this forever. Multi-use developments: office, housing and retail make way more sense and its diversified.
About time! Just make them AFFORDABLE for people! This should be happening all acrotbe US. Like all those empty old Walmart buildings… Why can’t they be used as homeless shelters or something to get people off the streets??? So hard to believe that we have homeless people in the 21st century! Shame on us!
this dude is a nepo baby
Ok, are chupacabra’s hiding in abandoned buildings, and were they created by rogue FBI doing their dastardly deeds?
What ‘pandemic’? Ohhh! You mean the Scamdemic-Plandemic.
I’m all for new apartments everywhere …saturate the market and drive down the price …people deserve affordable housing while simultaneously having quality of life by not having to live half of it in traffic and in discomfort when they don’t have to customer face …keep remote work and turn the buildings into housing …problem solved
The question is will it be affordable
We need Trump to straighten out this mess desperately
This was happening under Trump too. Even before 2020. Some companies have been doing telework long before 2020. This currently happening in very conservative cities too.
Even since long before the pandemic, I have always thought it was strange how many American cities’ downtown cores would become ghost towns in the evenings.
It’s easy.the govt pays big bucks for section 8 housing.
Elon Musk did the right thing by firing 75 percent of his workforce in Twitter. Maintaining these business headquarters are a big waste of revenues.
Good
My parents workplace mainly survives due to the cleaning crew and people coming for free supplies. It’s a big company and the cleaning crew outweigh the workers that do come in every week. They already made the idea for hotels with unused space.
It only makes a difference if it’s affordable
Working from home is just one more way to ensure that the human connection is almost a thing of the past
Yeah, but not forever. You should read the quote about returning back after so long it’s a online quote check it out?
@Jason Torres it is our future, online applications , tele doc, online dating, online alter lives and egos, online schooling
I don’t have high hopes that these apartments will be affordable, but I do believe that he will make it possible for people who need to live in that area because they do commute to work to spend less on transportation.
People need homes more than they need offices. Convert those dead office districts into multi use spaces.
I came up with a new idea what happened if they built an apartment building and a business together since working from home would be easier for people so that all people would have to do is walk to work in the same building from their apartment since there attached together?
With the added bonus that those employees would be less likely to leave for better pay and risk losing their apartment. Yeah dude, been done before – it was called “tied housing”.
i’ve had that idea too, problem is, ppl wants to work from home, but they don’t want to live where they work,
I wonder what the lease payments are going to look like?
There’s an unused office building here is San Diego that definitely be used for housing.
Good! This is what they should’ve done ages ago!
Employee benefits, to sleep in the office
We need employees to come back. It it drives the economy up
They should just bring back bunks at work stay longer than a day get another day meal voucher sleep at work the longer you do the less time you spend at work at the end of the year
It be nice if they would be affordable at the end of it all !
yeah $800/mo housing
But the pandemic is over….
Agreed
Those apartments are only gonna be 3500 a month for a one bedroom thanks for fixing housing instability with your high rent low budget scam
If you feared going into the building you worked at every single day congratulations…now you get to live in there.
Philadelphia’s downtown( aka Center City) has always been residential. Why? Because Center City is the original city. It still resembles the very street grid that Penn designed.
There are a couple of office bldgs that have been converted to residential. Those conversions happened before the pandemic.
Still won’t be affordable
It only makes sense to people who don’t want to see homeless. Who is going to clean for all of these people? Homeless to housed is not as easy as they think. Who will clean their units? 99% of the i
Unhouse have zero clue how to care for a home or themselves. Good idea but horrible if they don’t get daily services.
In Oregon and Washington state, the cops say its “no crime” for rotten landlord investors to lie and trick customers, to harass, threaten, assault person and home, abuse, injure, hospitalize, steal home and property from paying tenants. Forcing people into homelessness or death. A major unreported cause of the homeless and housing crisis. Even paying rent during the pandemic couldnt save you from them. They MUST be dealt with.
Why did they do such awkward camera shots on her?
He’s smart enough to know to start doing it now before everybody else starts doing it
Common Sense most people refer to work from home and save a lot of money and don’t have to be bother with employees or people they don’t like at work
It’s nice if they are truly affordable
I am a remote employee and I am NEVER going back into the office. The American office life is outdated and horrible for employees.
👃👃👃👃👃
If it sounds to good to be true it usually is. People look at what’s going on at Oxford, England.
This is brilliant
That’s smart…. It’s a waste of space
How does this make sense? Who is going to pay for apartments when nobody has a job anymore? Are the employers still employing folks to WORK in these now apartments? But they’re working from home instead? OR did they eliminate the work force / shut down the companies so don’t need offices?
Offices are unused because everyone works from home now. In the usa their is a worker shortage literally everyone who wants a job could easily find one
@nicholas morello
This is immigrant propaganda. Tell that to the 60k who got laid off in the technical sector. They could do business roles too.
Yeah that sounds nice, but let’s cut to the chase – if developers are pouring money into refurbing these buildings you’re not getting affordable housing, you’re getting high-end apartments; which is still better than empty offices, but let’s not pretend this is going to put a dent in the affordable housing crisis….
Home prices need to come down by 50% .or wages need to double.
Rent will be $4,000 a month!!!
I like the idea but there’s a fine line when it comes to apartments being affordable rent them out to cheap and people will have the building looking like the projects rent them too expensive and your average person can’t afford to live there thus more long term vacancies
hate to break this to you, but every neighborhood in america is the projects these days, so what’s better, getting ppl off the streets, or keeping them on the streets where they commit crimes to survive
The smartest models have businesses on the 1st or 2nd floors, retail on the 1st, offices & clinics on the 2nd, and residential above. It’s stupid to ignore why IBC 1+5 buildings are so successful and keep zoning blocks by BUSINESS over there, RESIDENTIAL over here. The best urban neighborhoods have jobs, food, drink and shopping downstairs, not 12 blocks away.
It’s about time.
The most logical thing to do.
only if they are affordable.
$450/Month and under for life as a fixed cost!
They need to do it faster…
More like due to the fact there is no industry all the jobs are set over seas
I made that comment before I started watching the video 0:22 😂😂😂
1:43 from tax paying office to benefits using housing . . . Story of modern America thanks ruling elite
I just hope that projects like this are not made for the ultra rich and make homeownership unattainable for young families looking for a decent place to live and work.
Yep apartments that only those that having good paying jobs can afford.
Good. We don’t need offices. We need affordable, quality housing. Please continue doing this.
Office spaces always soak up a ton of real estate. Nice to see it’s being used to solve the housing crisis.
Will these be our 15 minute cities Own nothing and be happy!
I w😊
They had this planned long before pandemic, living at your job a slave with the illusion of being free
Just wait until the opposite happens.
Hardly affordable housing-LOL
This is happening in London too
Too bad his office/apartment conversion won’t do enough to stem the problem. Its a good start. 😅
❤ianglreryyyejaneseamoreikimr[rrr]
and each apartments will cost a gazillion dollars a month to rent.
problem is, you have these 13 red libertarian states that pretends to be too broke to invest into things like this, that would re-zone these re-purposed areas, let it get fully occupied, then re-zone the building zone, put heavy taxes on it, then still pretend they’re too broke to pay for anything, and what areas they would try to improve would turn into drug infested hellholes as a result, government doesn’t want to solve the housing crisis because real estate is like oil, if the economy is getting bad, you just up the price to keep it afloat, but in real estate, the price hikes is just greed, there’s a reason, government has stopped building housing, they know they can fabricate housing price hikes if they keep housing demand up, but keep supply very limited, they can keep their own pockets full if rent is $2200+/mo and $3500/mo mortgages
wow his grandfather set him up. must be nice
*Just makes it easier to steal information from companies being that their employees are stretched across a wide area transmitting information daily*
I really hope these new apartments are affordable for the average worker
More apartments to lock you in so you can’t save money for a house or to get out.
That’s what I think will happen and that means I stay homeless!
Hopefully it will help with rent prices and empty downtown cities
barely any conversion would be necessary for similar apartments to what they provide the homeless
Love this idea. Should do this with malls too
“Due to people wanting to buy their own property we just can’t give them that opportunity BIG GOVERNMENT”
the 6th Age is starting very late 🙁
Really how could this ever be duh 🤣 I wonder the paint and glue huffers administration finally figured this one out are you sure that rent was ever this high. Noah scam when you see it people 😂
Mayor Andre Dickens in Atlanta, GA, is doing the same for Atlanta development with affordable housing.
And this still wont do a dent to the high price rent.
Garbage as usual will serve only rich people will probably sit empty
Turn office buildings into 1 bedroom 1 bath $450/Month fixed for life apartments! That is all I can afford on low wages!
ONLY interested in apartments if I can save up for my own tiny home off grid! Otherwise; this is just another communist trap! Oh, and 1 bedroom apartments better be at least 800 SQ ft for under $450/Month for life fixed cost! Why? Wages are not going up for over 35 years!
$450/Month and under permanent fixed cost for life for the working poor OR civil unrest and burning streets again!
Following the UN agenda , keep the sheep in the city!
Don’t we need more housing anyway?
My old middle school that’s been closed since 2009 is apparently being converted into housing. Last I knew the school closed due to high levels of mercury. Good luck with that one.
