China has begun a series of military exercises off the coast of Taiwan following days of high-level talks between the United States and Taiwan. More than 71 planes crossed into the self-governed island’s airspace. Beijing said the military action is a warning against the Taiwan independence separatist forces’ collusion and provocation with external forces. NBC News’ Courtney Kube reports.

Taiwan is not the name for any country/government. Taiwan is just the name for the island. The current government ruling the island of Taiwan has an official name: Republic of China which was founded more than 100 years ago in Nanjin, China. Even China invades “Taiwan” now, it is People’s Republic of China invades Republic of China. So technically it is a war between two Chinese governments, we call it “civil war”.
