LAWSUITS GALORE APPROACHING. SMH
Sydney Morning Herald?
Facts, this is so sad and could of been avoided so easily! someone definitely needs to be sued.
The City is not happy with their council right now .Watch out !!
I.pray.for.all.the.tenents.there.snd.i.hope.this.apartment.building.will.not.be.demolished.until.every.is.out.
They are not going into the building they have dogs sniffing around the perimeter ,no one wants to go into the building
The risk of further collapse is immenant!
These people will remain trapped. Emergency personnel are just standing around being spectators !!!
@Andrew Stevenson It’s not “Rasputin blue.” It’s “Rasputin Love Machine.”
@Rasputin love machine Ah, okay. Depends on the SE I guess. Love them or hate them, those Russians can dance. 🙂
@Rasputin love machine Wait, you did search for that, right?
Police said it’s going to be treated as a resting place. Sounds like they’re not recovering them, they’re going to demo the building on top of them and call it a resting place and remove the bodies with the debris. Such Callousness.
The Florida Towers were 18 floors; rescuers went to every condo making sure noone was left behind. This building is 6 floors, where ladder trucks can easily reach the windows and it seems that rescuers are doing everything to not clear the building because if they did their job 2 people would’ve been found immediately.
@Rasputin love machine Yeah, because if Rescuers did their job right the first time 2 people would’ve been found in their Apts.
A deaf woman was knocked unconscious.Early am Monday 2-3 hrs. before the 1st scheduled demolition,, she regained consciousness, called her daughter to get help, kicked out window screen to get attention of crowd below to notify rescuers. If she was still incapacitated she would’ve been in the building when officials demolished it.
The owner of a six-storey building which collapsed in Kenya’s capital Nairobi, killing at least 21 people, has been arrested, police tell…
Seven arrested after Israeli building collapse.
Chinese police say they have arrested nine people over the collapse of a building in the south-east city of Changsha
The Mumbai police arrested a man affiliated with a local political party and charged him with culpable homicide in the collapse
Bangladeshi authorities have arrested at least seven people in connection with this week’s deadly building collapse outside Dhaka.
USA….. a…a…a… my dog ate the inspection report. Nothing to see here.
Hmmmm do they have weekly Council meetings?
USA, class action lawsuit settled with $xxxxMillion payment (xx% of which goes to the law firms!)
Turkey arrested 200+ after buildings collapsed in the earthquake.
Turkey spend more time and care trying to rescue people in the rubble at great risk of buildings collapsing.
The mayor failed in his leadership communications to the community and affected tenants. If he needed help, he could have called the mayor of Surfside. His call would have been picked up immediately. Because those leaders were on it. With regular updates that were thoughtful and caring.
They could have brought in city busses for those waiting to hear about loved ones missing to stay and rest, instead of letting them sleep on the ground. Brought in Porta potty…
A little goes a long way.
Prayers, eh?
Because those work so well.
Praying ,that’s loser talk 😂
You should mention that hours (or shorter) before planned demolition on the day next to collapse, someone emerged in a window in that building. If she had emerged later, she would have been blown up! 😰
They did a segment on that
I Called the Gov. Office about that too.
The property owner was too cheap and too negligent to repair a building where three people may still be trapped. But he offers his prayers. I guess that makes everything OK.
@Tee I documented this . Good luck 🤞
Yeah, don’t you know. Prayers fix everything. Just like that couple who left their kid in the car to die while at church while afterwards the sheriff gives his prayers to the familiy. I think it’s time to just get rid of these prayers and understand that god isn’t real, it was never real, and will never be real. It was made up a long time ago to get people to follow a structure of higherarchy. People who follow religion are just a bunch of sheeps in a slaughterhouse of religion.
“Cheap”? The repairs on that building are probably in the millions. The city should have designated that building as uninhabitable. The city therefore said this building was ok to live in.
@Hexameter The guy in the interview quoted $50,000 to make the necessary repairs to make it safe from collapse. The owner said no, later getting a bid for $40,000 from another company. That company later changed their quote to the same $50,000 after discovering they need better support beams and materials. The owner refused, and the company took their guys and never came back. Several months later the owner seemingly panicked and brought in day laborers to attempt to fix the problem, laborers which the original contractor told them they were going to die if they continued working on the building because it was too far gone.
The building surely needs a lot more repairs done for things like heating and utilities, but inspections seem to indicate the critical repairs were not as costly as you’d think, and the owner is a complete cheap fool for ignoring the first contractor who gave him an offer. Now he will hopefully be spending millions in court costs as the families sue him and the government for negligence.
@CoherentPanda Sure that’s what he “said”. I highly doubt $40k would get you much of anything in reality.
Davenport Iowa, government just like Russia corrupt and incompetent.
Where were all of the private owner and governmental building inspectors? Includes regular usually annual inspectors for elevators, stairs, fire sprinklers and wiring?
A couple of the utility inspectors actually are in the reports as deeming the building unsafe. The city took no action from their concerns and continued to rely on the owner and his personal engineer for advice.
@CoherentPanda Never a good idea to purchase a building sight unseen. Especially with lots of people and pets still living inside. Especially if it’s 104 years old and has already had hotel to apartments conversion work done.
Keep in mind the new owners are 2 years old.The first pressor it was stated “WE” passed the safety issues and the tenant ‘s can continue to stay. With more than 50 residents and pets,my belief is that more than 1 inspection person was involved including the City Council.I do wish everyone understand ‘s these people lost their PERSONAL belongings besides their Apt belongings.Alot of PTSD and other things will come .Thank you to Red Cross 🙏
Property owner: Don’t hate the players trying to make money, hate the game.
⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ 0:07 0:08 0:08 0:09 0:09 0:10 0:11 0:12 0:12 0:13 0:13 0:14 0:15
24/7🔒⚔️
Yeah. The officials who decided to destroy the building before a thorough search will lose their re-elections. The building owner should be prosecuted for every death. Penalties for these kinds of neglect should be genuinely punishing, instead of never-ending slaps on the wrist.
A search was conducted and rescues did happen. Rescuers did enter Lisa Brooks apartment, even an account from her own words, they entered the bathroom that she was hiding in but didn’t pull back the curtain of the bathtub she was laying in. Now I’m not certain why she elected not to identify herself to emergency perosonel but lets not act like nothing was done to rescue these people.
Unfortunately that will never happen
I hope these people get paid. I hope they get their lives back together. I hope they can move on from this whole situation and I’m sorry to the people that lost family.
I hope the people responsible go to JAIL.
@Hexameter no crimes committed.😅 It was a sheer accident
@Rumpleforeskin I guess you don’t know how inspections work. Nice try, Mr. Wold. You pay off anybody?
Prayers.
He should be charged in their deaths.. if they did pass. Negligent with peoples lifes at risk!!!
If they weren’t in the building when it collapsed, they wouldn’t be trapped.
They are not “trapped” they are buried. There’s no reason to risk more people’s lives to recover dead bodies.
People have been found alive after many days of being trapped. Over a week has regularly been reported.
The owner offers his prayers and hopes the building doesn’t collapse on anyone else.
Prayers no one sues him
so what is the significance of the thermostat being at 57 degrees. is that just a snapshot of a moment in time where the building was inspected or is that below some sort of buiding code?
I’m guessing it shows that the building was cracked so bad it was hard to heat?
That was showing the air temp inside the apt. as the windows were not offering protection from the weather.
Properly sealed windows keep heat in and cold out. Think about it, even if you turn your thermostat down to 65 at night the house doesn’t drop below 60.
Got it yea i figured it was a sign of the building no longer being structurealy sound
@🌿Abby Lynn🌿 There are pictures online of the some of the windows. Completely warped walls that show no sign of being structurally sound. I feel bad for the victims as many of them knew this place was in bad shape, but likely had very few other choices where to go.
I smell a lawsuit. I think thee city should do all it can, while they can, to ENSURE every family in this building is housed in their own homes and are paid compensation for the property they lost. It’s the least they could do. Or wait for the lawsuit to earn a place in the HALL OF SHAME. May God’s Justice be served. In Jesus Name.
American archaic infrastructure. Maybe America should blame the Chinese for being the world’s leaders in infrastructure and fast speed rail. Maybe America should blame the Japanese for having bullet trains way back in 1964 when The Beatles released their first record album. America, 59 years behind the rest of the world. Last year there was radioactive water leaks in Minnesota and now Philadelphia and Louisiana. Where is Biden’s infrastructure funding? Surely DeSantis hasn’t used the infrastructure funds to send migrants from another state to another state like he did with the Covid funding.
The landlord offers thoughts and prayers!? gotta be a Republican… just words but no action in fixing his building
Property owners should go to jail for neglect.
so it was known it imminently was going to collapse but nobody told the tenants?
used the dudes mugshot, ouch.
Horror ☹️
Your Sins are Forgiven and you will never taste Death; once you Believe in ME AS GOD JESUS CHRIST IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH #777MANN JOHN 3:16 Literally 🥰
😳 Disgusting and Deplorable on all levels!!!
And to think the Mayor and City officials scheduled the building for Demolition 16 hrs after collapse.
Gotta cover up their incompetence! They should go to jail too for trying to demo the building while survivors were still inside.
🙏 Please bow your head and say this prayer now 🙏🙏
“Carry our prayers up to Gods throne, that
the mercy of the Lord may quickly come
and lay hold of the beast,
the serpent of old, Satan
and his demons, casting him
in chains into the abyss, so that
he can no longer seduce the nations.
Thank you for everything
CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE,
LORD GOD. Amen.”🙏
If you can’t look and remember the words, just read and pray them while you have your head bowed and your hands in front of your face 🙏☺🙏
what about using the Atlas robots from boston dynamics to remove the debries?
the building inspector appears incompitent.
Wow…. Extremely sad story of this building collapsing. Hopefully those 3 people are found soon and end up being okay, but I pray for all the other people hurt and/or worse 😔
The praying owner of the building and the City of Davenport building inspectors have matching black eyes swollen shut from years of looking the other way until a demonstrably horrible apartment building finally collapsed so close to City Hall in downtown Davenport.
The property owner sends his prayers… I’m sure his prayers are super helpful in light of all the other stuff he’s done since taking ownership of this fiasco.
You should see his massive mansion. He obviously couldn’t afford anything more than thoughts and prayers. /s And they only fined him $300. If there aren’t charges, then it’s just more proof of how corrupt the QC Iowa side government has become.
Blame the city for allowing the building to be inhabited and not condemned years ago.
The owner must be held accountable to the tenants for the known damage to the building!
And the city for deeming it safe to live in.
@Hexameter Yep!
The city knew it was bad years before Andrew bought the place back in 2021. The complaints have dates and they go back.
@Rumpleforeskin That’s so sad. And they’re still searching for survivors.
@Doc Dee yeah a few divisions from a few other Iowa city’s are here to do a search and rescue or from the way it sounds. A recovery. They put up tarps over the surrounding fences. They usually do that when they anticipate finding bodies in there.
The city of Davenport is trying to cover it up because they are at fault too. They said it passed the inspection when tenets and others contractors always said it was unsafe.
The city of Davenport event said the building was empty after there search because they wanted to tear the rest down-then hours later a women is crying for help from a window
Oh of course they are.
The property owner needs to be locked up for murder
Hush dummy
And the were going to demolish, shame.
Why was this landlord not reported and why didn’t officials red tag the building and evacuate residents?
New York city is about to get this reality check. Facades are crumbling all over Manhattan.
Tragic.
Iowa task force from souix city and cedar rapids sent divisions to go in there.but around 5 am today the put tarps over the fences
I worked as maintenance and housekeeping for them and lived in the davenport as I did..they wanted us to clean and fix each apartment as fast as possible and I did not agree with that..they paid us crap and ragged us about every little thing or if it wasn’t on time The manager was banging the maintenance guy and she was married…the owner never came around he had his dogs do everything. Also I saw bricks fall and seperate..when I raised concern they let me go..might wanna check the berg building next to it he owns that too along with the executive square.😂oh he sold it he prolly sold it right before he knew it was done for and got out.. really should go after the owner I worked for too
Common sense just says don’t rent here. I mean look at the building why would one ever live there
It’s great that he got evidence, but I wonder of he tried to warn any of the residents?
Hey buddy. Did you say anything to the tenants?
This city paid off many Tennant’s for 6 thousand and had them sign a consensus form.
The media is incorrect. In 2020 andrew didnt own it. He purchased vthe building from the city in june 2021. So much for acurate reporting.
Nbc can now be sued for slander. There is public record when this building transfered ownership.
