Been there three times and did the half dome trail once in 2000 and regret I haven’t been back now that I’m 67.
Yeah we saw it like that in the early 70’s. We used to go there all the time. it’s in your BACKYARD when you live in California. It’s like 3 1/2 hours from downtown San Francisco. If I were homeless I’d be living there all summer. Eat with Yogi and Boo Boo people’s picnic baskets. Hey hey!

I have a picture of my Grandmother sitting on a cliff/rock with Half Dome in the background distance. She went there before I was born. But then I’m 4th gen SF/Calif. so been there often.

@jim carson Don’t go until you do have the right equipment. You want to hike out of the Valley where all the tourists and buses are up into areas where you’ll see few humans. But you need to be prepared to take care of yourself.

There is a metal fence around the corner that is either flooded a bit in this pic or not showing due to an angle. But it’s like a stock corral, you can easily slip through the fence.
