A 14-year-old boy was killed and another was critically injured after they attempted to subway surf on a train in Brooklyn, New York. The teens were knocked off the roof of a train when it went into an underground tunnel. The attack comes after a series of subway surfing videos became viral on TikTok. When I was 14, I had a work permit and was working and going to school. I had no time for shenanigans like this. Kids need to be kept busy at all times so that they don’t end up doing stupid things like this. The idle mind is the devil’s playground.

Subway surfing is not cool. It’s very dangerous and stupid
Kids used surf back in the 80s but today its much more dangerous. The lines are dangerous and kids just don’t have the physicality we (gen Xers) used to have by daily playing outside rather than these “gamer/tick tok” weaklings. Secondly, the lines are much more dangerous today. Ditto for roof hopping however i need to note…a few good friends of mine got critically injured doing both. Kids…save the clout chasing for the Kardashians and onlyfans. You’re not prepared to do such physical activities especially after being at home for the past three years You’re doing too much. Do you really want to put your family through a loss because you want a Darwin award?

Political control of social media content wont help. It tetters on the line of oppression/authoritarianism. Its time for the parents at home to stop giving and allowing kids unlimited access to social media and the internet period. Start placing limits on cell phone use and access. Discipline, communication, and good judgement starts at home. And sadly many parents are failing at that.

A lawsuit for Subway surfing, which has been around since the early 90s, will get thrown out the window so fast. While very tragic and unfortunate, families should better monitor (or have a good idea) of the content their kids are consuming.
The families should be charged since they’re the ones who failed at parenting, and raised stupid kids. How about the trauma inflicted on the first responders who have to handle these situations as a result of sh!tty parenting.

Removing these videos only continues to censor and repeat history when a new generation gets curious and wants to try it. Especially those being peer pressured. Had you kept these videos, children could learn from it knowing most of these kids dont survive and end up dead either on that or the next video.

This doesn’t happen as much in the uk and I think this is because the tube naturally has round roofs and I notice that modern trains are probably harder to train surf as there are less bits to hold on to and usually a rounder roof. Mta should design the trains in a way that makes it harder to train surf.

I remember traveling on the subway going home from school, the only things kids did was pull. The emergency cord so they could wind up on the girls laps, but this is totally dumb to do, the train sometimes takes a sharp turn then oppsss… not a good idea to show off, stay in school get that lawyers degree medical degree make a difference…😉
