NATO is an instrument of American hegemony and they’re fooling no one. Their aim stated many times is the attrition and final removal of Russia as a world power. Russia is now facing a truly existential threat. Putin, I think will be left with no choice but adopting the resolute determination of of president John F Kennedy in 1962 when facing the Soviet threat in Cuba. Then Kennedy made it clear that any attack from Cuba on any Western Hemisphere country would result in a full thermonuclear retaliation against the Soviet Union. So Putin might take the same resolution that any attack on Russian forces by any NATO member will result in a full thermonuclear retaliation on the Continental United States. This will be the only way to keep the Americans in line.

We live in a global world where actions can affect others in other parts of the world, and not in that regional area of conflict. I understand these conflicts have been going on now for the past 1800 years since the fall of the western Roman Empire and the rise of the Kievan Rus that lead to so many conflicts like the Northern War, Crimean war and Winter War, but this is a more interconnected word that’s is multi polar and multi hemispheric and very related.
