80 percent of rice exports from India are of Basmati, which is not banned. Modi us punishing south indians living in overseas and also south indian farmers for rejecting him. The rice consumed by south indians is a minuscule of the overall exports. US govt should bann all white rice imports into US and western countries.
Time to learn how to eat that box minute rice like the rest of us Americans.

We do grow rice in America, buy American made. And when life throws you lemons make lemonade. Adapt. We are hardly suffering that much in America. Their are people literally starving to death in the world cause of the bs of world leaders and the greed of the powerful. This is all drama , so you can’t make your favorite dish, make something else. Wake up.
Invest in American farming, learn to grow food at home , or in your community. Adapt and you will be fine.

I have a 50 pound bag of rice that’s been sitting in my pantry for over 10 years. All this panic buying is just a bunch of people stocking up on rice that’s unlikely to ever be used. Just buy what you need people. There are many sources of cheap rice.

I love rice but I try not to eat much of it anyway. I didn’t start eating different types of rice until I became an adult. Growing up in Pittsburgh, my mom used to buy “River Rice“. I don’t even know if they still sell that brand lol! But we are all connected and this is a reminder🤷🏽♀️ We’re on this one planet together🙏🏾

The non-Indian rice varieties are honestly not that good. The look like Indian rice but lack the flavor, texture and the taste. Also, they are probably GMO, especially if they are American. No one in india eats basmati rice on a daily basis. It’s too expensive. It’s only reserved for special occasions like weddings. And it’s hard to digest. So no need to panic.
