The main opposition party in Bangladesh and its allies staged a large rally on Monday in the capital Dhaka.
They were protesting against the police crackdown on their party members, during a peaceful sit-in on Saturday.
They want the government to step down and hand over power to a caretaker administration ahead of the general election later this year.

পৃথিবীর মানুষ সবাই জানেন “যে ঐতিহ্য ধরে রাখার জন্য বা যে সংস্কৃতিকে টিকিয়ে রাখার জন্য এই দেশের জন্ম, তা হচ্ছে ভাষা। দেশপ্রেম, মানবিকতা, উন্নয়ন এবং একতা সমৃদ্ধ , সকল ধর্ম ও মত প্রকাশের স্বাধীনতায় বিশ্বাসী বাংলাদেশে যদি এই গণতন্ত্রটুকুও না-ই থাকতো, তাহলে এই সরকারের হাতে ক্ষমতা ছিলো ” রাষ্ট্রদ্রোহিতার দায়ে এদের সাংগঠনিক অধিকার (যা সাংবিধানিক মৌলিক অধিকারের একটি) বাতিল করতে পারতো। কারণ, যে দেশের সাথে রাষ্ট্রীয় ভাবে কোনো সম্পর্ক কখনোই রাখবেনা বাংলাদেশ এবং তা দেশটির পাসপোর্টে দেয়া আছে। এবং এই সিদ্ধান্তটি একদমই রাষ্ট্রীয় , শুধুমাত্র যে কোনো সরকারি দল কর্তৃক নিষিদ্ধ তা নয়। তবে সাম্প্রতি কালে ভিডিও চিত্রে দেখানো দাঙ্গাবাজদের নেতারা “ইসরায়েলি গুয়েন্দা সংস্থার সাথে বৈঠক করে” – যা ফিলিস্তিনের গুয়েন্দা সংস্থা নিশ্চিত করে বাংলাদেশ সরকারকে সতর্ক করে।
আমাদের দেশের পুলিশি ব্যবস্থা অপরাধী চক্রদের জন্য খুবই বড় হুমকি যার কারণে আজ এরা সংগঠিত হচ্ছে সেই সব দাবী ও শক্তিদের হাতধরে , যারা বাংলাদেশের স্বাধিনতা কখনোই মেনে নেয়নি।। যেমন, “পাকিস্তান ও আমেরিকা”।
সত্যি বলতে গণতন্ত্র যদি সত্যিই না থাকতো বাংলাদেশে , তাহলে রাষ্ট্র বিরোধীরা সংগঠিত হয়ে যার যার মতপ্রকাশ করতে পারতো না। অপ-সংস্কৃতিও একটা সংস্কৃতি যা অনেকের পছন্দের, যা মক্সাস বা নষ্টালজি ফিলোসোফির মতো, তবুও আমাদের এই দেশ ও সরকার তাতে বাঁধা দেয় না তবে তখনই শক্ত হাতে দমন করা হয় সেই সকল সাংস্কৃতিক , রাজনৈতিক ও সাংগঠনিক চক্রদের যারা নিজেদের আর্ট প্রেকটিসের মাধ্যমে রাষ্ট্র বিরোধী কাজ করে কিংবা জনসমাজ আতঙ্ক ছড়াতে থাকে এবং উগ্রবাদ আচরণ করে। আর তখন শুধু পুলিশই নয়, এ দেশের সচেতন ছাত্রজনতা একত্র হয়ে দুষ্ট চক্রদের প্রতিহত করে।
