When the Portland Fire Department in Oregon was called to rescue someone who was stuck in chest-deep mud, they didn’t realize they were rescuing a man who had escaped from the Oregon State Hospital. After the rescue a quick-thinking hospital employee made the connection to the escape and police arrested him. KGW’s Alma McCarty reports.

Because at the end of the day its human life… As a firefighter / First responder you have too look past who people are and what they’ve done. Simply do your job to the best of your abilities and let the law sort everything else out.

For me it was the loud annoying BONK sound followed by the blinding white logo screen. I always try to slam the space bar just in time to avoid it. A 20 second self-promotion at the end of every video isn’t helpful, informative, or productive. They could just put links in the description.

Believe it or not, because it’s the 21st century. Your attitude is a couple millennia out of date, we have courts and hospitals. We don’t leave patients from mental health facilities to die in a swamp.

Many years ago, two prisoners escaped captivity by taping magazines to their bodies so they would be protected from the razor wire atop the fences they had to climb. One prisoner immediately surrendered when guards started shooting, but another got away. Not long after, his corpse was found in a river (I believe). He had drowned, attempting to swim across the river but was weighed down by the soggy magazines, which he never removed. He was found by two guys who were fishing: prison guards enjoying their day off. Too funny.

This is why we need some kind of microchip with some kind of unique serial number implanted in our brain, or at the very least some kind of tattooed bar code, to limit the ability of the people to lie about their identity. Something that can’t easily be tampered with at a tattoo parlor

That doesn’t strike me as “mentally ill” (in the legal sense). Able to drive without a crash? Check. Able to get out of chains rather than further stuck in them? Check. Survived for 12 hours in that kind of mud without a single “episode” costing him his life? Check. Dude’s sane; put him in prison and give him his “mental healthcare” there.
