Charlie Gregory was on a 3 a.m. fishing trip off the coast of St. Augustine, when a wave knocked over his boat, dumped his flares and cell phone and whisked him away 12 miles with no working motor. NBC News’ Sam Brock shares more on how the Coast Guard found him and the emotional reunion with his family.

Yeahhh I thought that kid was dead for sure when I saw it on the news when they 1st started looking for him.
Lesson learned don’t take a boat that belongs in a pond in the ocean
In a world full of bad news, we need more stories like this to lift our spirits and give glory to God. Despite our ignorance of the truth, he still reveals to us his love and patience.
They credit God, but really, it was the brave people of the Coast Guard that located and rescued him.
Lucky for him this didn’t happen after a government shutdown. Resources in finding him would likely have been much more limited.

Situations like this is how I’m scared to die. The anxiety would consume me. I am soo glad the 🦈 🦈🦈 s didn’t get to him!
Sick of the racial comments….. people, regardless of the man’s skin color everyone would have continued to look for whoever was missing for as long as it takes or until much later.
My dad dropped dead Friday in front of my mom. She did cpr until the paramedics came. The artery going to his heart called the widow maker was 100% blocked. He had to be shocked twice and they got a pulse after 45 min. My mom called me while the paramedics were there. So I know what she means to going from deaf to being alive. They were able to put a stent in his artery and two days later he is on a regular hospital floor. Everyone should know cpr. She was screaming your not leaving me. So maybe screaming that makes it more effective lol. So blessed! My dad is an amazing man.

40 hours out in the ocean in a half sunken little dinghy surrounded by sharks!! I’d have died from fear! Straight up heart attack thinking I was going to be eaten or drowned while being eaten…my nightmare! This is why I don’t go out into the ocean & definitely never would alone.

This is one of those lucky, “what are the odds?” Kinda stories. It’s crazy to think if none of them were out at night searching the ocean, who knows what would’ve happened. He’s definitely handling it better than I would, I think I’d be hysterical expecting death and then conviently save.

He wasn’t in the open ocean at first if I heard right. He was on the inter coastal. He must have gotten sucked out by tide in port entrance. What a nightmare! His chances of being found were so slim. Very blessed young man that’s for sure.

I’ve wondered recently how you die if you decide to just swim off chasing the setting Sun into the Gulf of Mexico and keep swimming, do you die of exhaustion, do the sharks get you, stung by jellyfish until it’s unbearable, if you just keep trying to stay afloat as long how long do you survive and how do you die? I’m thinking sharks is the answer now. Unless you’re exhausted.
