California passed two new climate laws that require public and private businesses to disclose emissions and climate-related risks. The Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act requires public disclosure of greenhouse gas emissions for any business in California that has revenue of $1 billion or more. The Climate-Related Financial Risk Act requires disclosure of climate-related financial risks for businesses in California that have $500 million or more in revenue. The company must also outline measures to reduce risks. Callaway Climate Insights Founder and Editor-in-Chief David Callaway joins Yahoo Finance Live anchor Akiko Fujita to discuss climate risk in investing. “Investors are still very much interested in climate risk,” Callaway says, as “climate risk is investment risk.” Callaway notes how public pension funds are “making changes to the set up of the funds… and they’re taking fossil fuel companies in particular, but also, you know, weapons makers and gun companies… out of their portfolios.” For more expert insight and the latest market action, click here to watch this full episode of Yahoo Finance Live
