A plane at Houston’s Hobby Airport took off without permission, the FAA says, severely damaging another aircraft as it came in for landing. There were no injuries from the incident, which closed the airport for three hours. NBC News’ Tom Costello has details on the close call.

#Houston #Airport #Collision
The difference of a millisecond would have resulted in a catastrophe.
Typical hawker pilots not trying to take fault lol
Wow 😮
Flying looking to be be one of the most dangerous modes of transportation in 2023 😳
Look up the statistics, last year 229 fatalities from plane related incidents, compared to 20,190 fatalities from car crashes in the first half of 2022. You are more likely to die on the way to the airport in a car than actually from dying inside of the plane DUE to the plane crashing.
…based on no actual statistics
Awww. Two private jets? I’m glad people are safe, but otherwise – hold on a second – let me get out my tiny violin. I hope both plane owners are required to compensate every single coach commercial passenger inconvenienced by this?
Texas normal
Stupid comment. The tower instructed the pilot taking off to line up on the runway and wait. The pilots instead took off *without* clearance. That plane is registered to owners in Chicago. The plane that was landing and hit is registered to owners in Atlanta.
Possible Pilot Deviation
Was the errant pilot tripping balls on the tarmac?
More luck than brains…
I’ve been in a private aircraft that almost landed on the wrong runway, while a huge Fed Ex jet was taking off from that runway. It’s a helpless feeling! Glad everyone in Houston is Ok!
Plain and simple, we need more airports in this country to handle the load of all the future private jets.
Private jets…sounds like rich people problems to me…
F.O.D everywhere ! Stupid captain !
Blame who now ?
As a retired corporate pilot with over 20k hrs in my logbook, I cannot believe the amount of accidents and incidents happening lately. Come on guys, listen to what ATC is telling you. Theres no harm in saying, excuse me, say again if there’s any doubt.
This incident could have ended so much worse, thank goodness just the planes got damaged.
Afirmative action
What is the real story!!!
Private jet pilots getting their licenses form cereal boxes.
OBVIOUSLY THE IRRESPONSIBLE PILOT THAT TOOK OFF WITHOUT PERMISSION SHOULD BE PROSECUTED HAS TO BE PROSECUTED!!!
yet again another aircraft incident under pete’s dot head watch………and still hasn’t resigned from previous failures
